News for the Hospitality Executive |
SCOTTSDALE, DALLAS and LONDON (June 23, 2010) – Pegasus Solutions is introducing descriptive content pushes to the global distributions systems (GDSs) based on feedback gathered from existing customers and during its inaugural Next Generation Shopping Summit earlier this year. Responding to a need articulated by suppliers and distributors to better merchandise the hotel experience, Pegasus’ service will offer hotels a single point of entry and management for both GDS and alternative distribution system (ADS) descriptive hotel content updates. Pegasus currently manages the largest repository of hotel descriptive content in the world with its Hotel Content Database (HCD), which houses images, property and room descriptions for nearly 100,000 hotels. With the current enhancements, hotel descriptive content entered into the HCD by a hotel chain, either via XML Update Interface or via Pegasus’ Content Manager, will not only be used in online distribution, but also for managing content in the GDSs. “Hotels shoulder a huge responsibility in maintaining rates, availability and descriptive content across the fragmented shopping spectrum,” said Mike Kistner, chief executive officer of Pegasus Solutions. “Our ongoing discussions with customers, as well as with suppliers and distributors during the Next Generation Shopping Summit, have focused on how to consistently distribute increasingly complex product and prices. If we can streamline the distribution of hotel descriptive content to both channels with this service, then we’ve moved one step closer to addressing the burden on suppliers, and ultimately the needs of distributors.” Currently, Pegasus’ HCD regularly pushes descriptive content to several online travel agencies (OTA). With the service updates, the HCD will also provide the same descriptive content, supplied through a single point of entry, to the four GDSs. More information on the descriptive content updates to the GDSs is available at Pegasus Solutions’ HITEC booth #1123, June 21-24, 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
