Park Plaza Hotels Partners with Elbit Imaging Ltd to Acquire
the 342-room Holiday Inn Amsterdam Schiphol
Will Re-brand as Park Plaza
Amsterdam – 29 April 2010 – Park Plaza Hotels is pleased to announce that it has successfully acquired one of the largest Conference Hotels in the Netherlands, located near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
The property, currently operating as the ‘Holiday Inn Amsterdam Schiphol’, opened in 2007 and offers 342 contemporary guestrooms. The hotel’s main attraction however is the wealth of Meeting & Events facilities on offer and the spacious and tranquil setting in which it is located.
With over 1,800 square metres of flexible meeting space this hotel is among the top meeting locations in the Netherlands. All 19 meeting rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a real sense of space and airiness, and provide an excellent base for any event from small board meetings to events up to 1,700 delegates. In addition, the hotel has 6 business units which are ideal for small meetings.
Given its close proximity to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the hotel will with immediate effect be re-branded as Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport. Other key destinations such as Amsterdam, Haarlem and Hoofddorp are also within easy reach.
All 342 guestrooms (including 52 executive rooms) are stylishly decorated and provide all modern amenities. Wireless internet is available in all public areas and guest can make free use of the gym and business centre. Extensive parking facilities are available as well as shuttle service to- and from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport.
Brasserie Leeghwater, Grand Café and The Waterwolf Bar & Lounge provide a wide range of eating and drinking options for local residents, guests and meeting delegates.
Park Plaza Hotels will use the next few weeks to further familiarise itself with this unique hotel and its experienced management team, but it confirms that has already earmarked funds to invest in the property, with a view to further strengthening its appeal and market position.

With this acquisition, Park Plaza Hotels increases its number of rooms in operation in the Netherlands to 1,008.

• Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam: a landmark property with 306 rooms in the heart of Amsterdam, opposite the city’s main train station (Amsterdam Centraal);
• Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam: a hidden gem in Amsterdam’s affluent ‘Oud Zuid’ area offering 138 guestrooms and spacious suites;
• Park Plaza Utrecht: arguably Utrecht’s most high profile hotel, opposite the main train station, offering 120 guestrooms and a dedicated top level conference floor;
• Park Plaza Mandarin Eindhoven: the company’s first hotel, offering 102 guestrooms.
Park Plaza Hotels is also about to commence building work on the country’s first art’otel, which will be located adjacent to the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam. art’otel amsterdam is scheduled to open in 2011 and with this fourth hotel in the Dutch capital, Park Plaza Hotels is set to become one of the largest operators in the city.
The opening of Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport follows shortly after the company completed its renovations at Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam and the opening of the brand new art’otel cologne and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London (one of Europe’s largest conference hotels to open in several decades).
