Tucson's 241- room Westward Look Resort Completes $14 million Renovation

Tucson
, AZ
(December 2009) – Westward Look Resort is redesigned, reinspired and better than ever. The resort has undergone a $14 million renovation, updating the look and feel of virtually every resort area including the main lobby, guest rooms, meeting spaces, fitness center, outdoor areas, Lookout Bar & Grille and GOLD restaurant. Welcome to the all-new Westward Look Resort.

The resort enlisted San Diego-based Design Line Interiors to create a new, fresh and modern color palette throughout the property. The color scheme draws inspiration from natural elements like the lush desert landscape and warm Arizona sunshine. The colors and fabric designs include rich golds, browns, reds, and creams with dark wood accents and natural slate countertops.

The redesign of the main lobby includes historical features such as wing-back chairs and natural wood floors to emulate the Vigas Room, the resort’s original living room, dating back to the early 1900’s. Modern chairs, sofas and pillows all evoke a modern and elegant ambiance.

New guest rooms include lavish features like Sealy Posturpedic® pillow-top mattresses, all-natural bedding, 42-inch flat panel televisions, and high-speed wireless access. In-room bathrooms incorporate walk-in showers, lighted make-up mirrors and 100% cotton waffle-weave robes.

In conjunction with the renovation, Westward Look Resort unveiled its signature new restaurant, GOLD, in February 2009. GOLD’s menu, created by executive chef James Wallace, blends fresh and innovative contemporary American cuisine with a touch of desert-inspired flavor. The interior décor has been updated with new colors, fabrics, and artwork. Gold, along with other metallic colors like copper and pewter, are also highlighted in the restaurant. GOLD continues the tradition of the former Gold Room, a AAA Four Diamond and Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recipient.

The Lookout Bar & Grille also features new interior colors and furniture. It is a more casual dining option, featuring a recently redesigned menu concept that touts “American fare with a Western flair.” Some of the new menu items include the Lookout Tortilla Soup, Build Your Own Burger, and Braised Beef Short Ribs with the chef’s special, Wreck Barbeque Sauce.

All pool areas have also been modernized. The decks of the each of the resort’s three pools were resurfaced and feature new dark brown wicker patio tables and chairs with gorgeous teak wood accents and deep red cushions. The pool lounge chairs feature brightly colored, striped cushions for sunbathing comfort. The pools were refinished using a pebble tech surface, giving the pool more durability and a more aesthetically pleasing look.

Westward Look’s meeting spaces feature today’s most innovative technology. Meeting rooms are equipped with new audio-visual equipment including new microphones, updated sound systems, and a Lutron electrical control system, offering a one-touch panel for lights and sound. Voted #1 for meetings by Arizona Business Magazine, Westward Look Resort offers 16 meeting rooms with more than 20,000 sq. ft. of versatile meeting space. In addition, the resort was named the #1 resort in Tucson by Ranking Arizona.

Westward Look Resort joins the ranks of the nation’s premier properties by garnering the AAA Four Diamond Award® for 2010. An indicator of excellence since 1977, the AAA Four Diamond Award promises travelers an unparalleled lodging experience.

"This award is an honor to the dedicated staff and management of our property," said Alan Klein, General Manager of Westward Look Resort. "As AAA identifies outstanding service as the distinct standard for resort properties, being honored by the program is a wonderful achievement."

According to AAA, its Lodging Four Diamond Awards are reserved for top-of-the-line hotels that are upscale in all areas. The fundamental hallmarks at this level include an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.

“We are continually looking to incorporate innovative new services, amenities and offerings at the resort. We strive to offer our guests the best desert getaway in all of Southern Arizona,” stated Klein.
