Elite Meetings International (EMI) Adds Two Sales Directors and Promotes a Third As EMI Increases its Suite of
Products to Support Meeting Professionals
SANTA BARBARA, CA, February 3, 2010 Elite Meetings International (EMI) continues to ramp up its sales team to support an ever-growing suite of products in the marketplace. Following the recent addition of Mark K. Ley and Carol M. Lynch, EMI today announced the addition of two more sales executives, Emily Lewis and John Malanca, and the promotion of an EMI veteran, Therese Hilton Adams. With the recent launch of EMIs new products, its team of sales professionals has already begun expanding its direct sales outreach as well as its participation at high visibility industry events. 2010 promises to be a banner year for our growth, said Kelly Foy, EMIs Chief Executive Officer. He concluded, We are thrilled to acknowledge the promotion of one of our key executives, and the addition of two more outstanding sales professionals to our team, as we bring our products aggressively into the marketplace. Therese Hilton Adams, who joined Elite Meetings in June 2007, has been promoted to the position of Director of Sales, functioning as EMIs focused team leader for hotel sales out of the companys Santa Barbara headquarters. In her previous role as Regional Director of Sales, Adams was active in hotel sales, as well as the marketing of the companys magazine, Elite Meetings; its Web site, EliteMeetings.com; and its event, the Elite Meetings Alliance (EMA). Adams has 10 years of experience in hospitality sales and marketing, including seven years as a Multimedia Producer, and subsequently as Director of Creative Sales for a national travel magazine. Her background also includes producing a No. 1-rated morning news show for an ABC affiliate station. Originally from Medford, OR, Adams now resides in Santa Barbara, CA and can be reached at [email protected] or 805-879-3937. She holds professional memberships in both the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). An experienced hospitality professional, Emily Lewis joined EMI in the fall as Regional Director of Sales for the Northeast, and Ontario and Quebec, Canada. For more than three years previous, she held the position of Conference Manager at Nielsen Business Medias Successful Meetings, Meeting News, and Incentive magazines, where she brought hoteliers and meeting planners together for three-day, one-on-one networking events. Prior to that, Lewis was a meeting planner at Advertising Age, a Crain Communications marketing and media trade publication. Lewis resides in the New York City area and can be reached at [email protected] or 347-561-6417. Another key addition to the Elite Meetings team, John Malanca is EMIs Regional Director of Sales for the West, with a territory that includes west and east coast properties, the Caribbean, and Western Canada. Malancas experience includes more than 10 years in on-line and print advertising and sales in the hotel and travel industry. He has worked with such companies as spa.com, Spafinder, Inc., Mainstream Marketing, and Spotzer Media Inc., where he successfully grew sales throughout the country. Malanca is active in MPI and Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). He is located out of EMIs San Francisco Bay Area office and can be reached at [email protected] or 415-606-1610. Earlier this month, EMI named Mark Ley to the position of Director of Marketing, and Carol Lynch to the position of Director of Planner Communications. Together, with the positions announced today, the new appointments are expected to increase EMIs ability to sell, demonstrate, and explain product offerings to audiences in private settings, at industry conferences, and at its own highly regarded Elite Meetings Alliance events. Already this year, EMI has held its first ever offshore Elite Meeting Alliance (EMA), January 24-26 in Hawaii, at which it featured two innovative new technologies that help planners and hotels do business: FaceTime, EMIs proprietary appointment scheduling system, and SpeedRFP, the only online Request For Proposal (RFP) tool that is completely portable, enabling planners to take meeting, event, and incentive RFPs anywhere on the Web, and submit an RFP on any SpeedRFP-enabled site, with as few as three clicks. FaceTime and SpeedRFP will be demonstrated again at the upcoming Spring and Fall EMAs. FaceTime will also be featured at the Hosted Buyer Program at MPIs MeetDifferent event February 20-23 in Cancun. Additional announcements are expected in coming weeks.
