Whiteboard Labs Jumps Into Mobile Site Development for Hotels

.

Houston, Texas (September, 2009) – Houston-based Whiteboard Labs, a web and application development shop, announced that it is now developing mobile Web sites for hotels that are built to render properly on specific mobile devices.  Other than the addition of code that redirects mobile visitors to the mobile-optimized site built and hosted by Whiteboard Labs, a hotel’s current Web site is unaffected.

We'd like to target iPhone (Safari3), Palm PRE (webOS), and Android on the initial release for mobile-optimized Web sites and for our Mobile-optimized Booking Engine.   There are "cool" web-based behaviors that work on these platforms that enhance the user’s experience, says Angelo Directo, VP of Design at Whiteboard Labs.  This is an area the company feels is very important not only in terms of communication to potential clients but as an added distribution channel for the hotel industry.

The Bryant Park Hotel in New York City went live with their new mobile site just a few days ago.  The Bryant Park Hotel has established a certain image and a quality Web presence, so we wanted to ensure that image translated over to the mobile world.  “We've been going over this a lot lately, trying to cover as many scenarios as possible for mobile users”, says Drew Rosser, VP of Business Development for Whiteboard Labs.  The mobile site can be reached via a re-direction script that detects most smart mobile devices and triggers the re-direction to a site optimized for mobile users.  A specific URL for the mobile site can also be used, like m.bryantparkhotel.com for the Bryant Park Hotel.

“We are totally committed to working with hotels to make sure that they are well represented on all distribution environments.  We want to be a hotel’s or chain of hotels’ conversion experience technology provider.   Our history in the industry creating innovative conversion tools sets us apart from other standard technology firms.

“Mobile communication “web-site access” is important for an independent hotel such as the Bryant Park Hotel. Since we are not “chain related” and like no other Hotel in the world, our website is our “branding”, it’s our tool, and a direct link, to show consumers who we really are”, says Phil Columbo, Asset & Managing Director of the Bryant Park Hotel.

About The Bryant Park Hotel
Situated directly across from New York City’s storied Bryant Park, and steps away from the media, fashion, retail and transportation centers in Manhattan, the Bryant Park Hotel has emerged since its 2001 opening as a nexus for young Hollywood, fashion culturati, and cosmopolitans, both native and transient, thrusting it into a limelight reserved only for a select few. Year-round neighbor to the fashion community, the Bryant Park Hotel is party to New York’s semi-annual Fashion Week and hosts innumerable events and functions celebrating industry elite. The hotel’s 3000 square foot Cellar Bar, a dim, subterranean haunt frequented by the young-professional set and celebrities incognito, bleeds into a spacious 70-seat private screening room favored by studio executives for its intimacy and progressive technology.
