FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Dec. 7, 2009 – The Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale and The Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel proudly announce the appointment of David Wahba as the complex director of sales and marketing.  Wahba’s homecoming is welcomed as he returns to the recently renovated properties after multi-million dollar transformations from the Sheraton Yankee Trader and Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotels, where he oversaw sales and marketing efforts two years ago.

“Considering his past experience with these resorts and with his diverse Starwood background, David has strong knowledge of these two brands and is extremely well suited for this position,” said Amaury Piedra, complex general manager. “We are thrilled to have him back on our Fort Lauderdale team.”

Wahba brings more than 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the oceanfront resorts. Most recently, Wahba worked as the director of sales and marketing at The Westin Resort, Aruba where he oversaw the property’s 481 room revenue. Prior to that position, he served at the iconic Sheraton Yankee Trader and Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotels.

A graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Wahba currently resides in Weston, Florida with his wife and two sons.

Celebrating its grand opening this December, The Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale will soon provide more than 32,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. The beachfront resort also offers 433 rejuvenating guestrooms and suites and an alluring Heavenly Spa by Westin™, as well as three palate-pleasing dining options including upscale Shula’s on the Beach, poolside Waves Bar & Grill and an oceanfront Starbucks coffeehouse.

The Sheraton Yankee Clipper will reopen as The Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel in January 2010 after a multi-million dollar renovation. Offering two swimming pools, 7,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and 3,600 square feet of outdoor space, as well as an array of delightful dining and entertainment options, the iconic hotel remains a favorite for family vacations and carefree getaways.
