| SAN DIEGO, Sept. 11, 2009 - Melissa Stiltz, Sales Manager for the East Coast Region of the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, is the 2009 recipient of the distinguished Roger J. Dow Sales Excellence Award. The national award, presented annually by Marriott International, Inc., goes to the sales associate who best embodies the spirit and energy of the company's sales culture. As the sales manager for the East Coast region, handling all groups booking 26 rooms or more at the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, Melissa Stiltz became Marriott Gaslamp's highest revenue producing sales manager. She started with the company in 2006 as small group sales manager and was promoted to her current position the following year. Above and beyond the exceptional service Stiltz always provides, the award recognizes, in part, her tireless efforts to provide special care for First American Military, Inc., an organization that brought together US Special Forces families that had lost loved ones in Afghanistan. Upon learning that this group represented the largest loss of life for US Special Forces in United States history, Stiltz worked with her company to donate 30 rooms at the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter. She also helped organize special recognition at a Padres baseball game for those killed and for the lone survivor of Operation Redwing, the counter-insurgent mission in Kunar province, Afghanistan performed by SEALs and Special Operations Forces. "Melissa has a kind nature and an impressive worth ethic," said Kim McCarthy, Director of Sales and Marketing.
