Former Radisson Hotel, High Point, North Carolina
Officially Becomes Best Western

High Point Enterprise, N.C.McClatchy-Tribune Regional News

Jul. 2, 2009--HIGH POINT -- The world's largest hotel chain has secured a foothold in downtown High Point by officially taking over the site of the former Radisson.

Best Western International announced Wednesday the formation of the Best Western High Point Hotel, located at 135 S. Main Street.

Owned by High Point Leasing LLC, the newly renovated, full-service hotel offers 252 guest rooms including 10 suites.

The city's largest hotel, it had been known as the Radisson since it opened with fanfare in 1983 and since then, had gone through at least six ownership changes through 2008.

In December 2008, the owners of the hotel announced they were breaking with the Radisson brand name as they searched for a new affiliation.

It had since taken on the interim name Hotel High Point until Best Western made their affiliation official this week.

Hotel amenities include an indoor swimming pool, fitness facility and business center.

It also features a Bistro South Lounge, the hotel's on-site restaurant and lounge. It also features 12,000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate up to 400 people. Rates start at $69 per night.

"We are very pleased to welcome the Best Western High Point Hotel and we consider this hotel a perfect complement to our existing properties in North Carolina," said Mark Williams, vice president, North American development for Best Western International.

Best Western International is the world's largest hotel chain, providing marketing, reservations and operational support to more than 4,000 independently owned and operated member hotels in 80 countries and territories worldwide.
