remains on-schedule at the Aloft
Tallahassee Downtown, a Vision of W Hotels, as the new hotel
moves forward to its August 27 opening. Finishing touches are now
being completed, and the hotel operations team is preparing to move in
and begin training new hotel talent.  Located on the site of the historic Floridan Hotel at
200 N. Monroe
Street, this is not your grandma’s Floridan! Taking an
architectural nod from the renowned Tallahassee landmark with its brick
façade and arched windows, guests will find an exciting sensory
experience once they step inside the doors of this completely new hotel
brand by Starwood Hotels. Open ceilings, bright colors and unique textures invite guests into the open lobby area, which is known in Aloft lingo as re:mix. The area is equipped with lighting that changes from day to evening, and a sophisticated video and sound system that sets the mood for fun and relaxation. The highlight of the re:mix area is w xyzsm, a full service bar that features a variety of specialty drinks, beer and wine, along with hot and cold “bite” appetizers. Guests can find just the right place to mix and mingle, with a pool table, DJ mix station, modern furniture and free Wi-Fi throughout. Guest rooms are light and bright, with an abundance of windows and a frosted glass panel separating the shower and sleeping area. Bold colors and textures offer a modern refuge for guests to feel at home. Rooms are technology ready, with a docking station for audio and video devices and 40” flat panel televisions with high-definition cable channels. The Aloft Tallahassee Downtown features 2,250 square feet of meeting space with a full catering menu and audio-visual capabilities. Meeting rooms are bright and airy, enjoying the view of the hustle and bustle of Florida’s capital city though the large arched windows that are an icon of the old Floridan Hotel. Aloft talent is currently being screened and interviewed for all areas of the hotel by General Manager Cara Hardiman and McKibbon Hotel Management. Thirty-five applicants will be selected to become a part of the hotel’s opening team, and will begin training and orientation on August 11. The Aloft Tallahassee Downtown will welcome its first guests on Thursday, August 27. An evening grand opening celebration is scheduled for 09/09/09, and will introduce Tallahassee to the new travel vibe that is Aloft Hotels.
