Jon Simons Appointed to American Hotel & Lodging Association's
Manager of Government Affairs

Washington, D.C., July 14, 2009 – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) announces the promotion of Jon Simons to the position of Manager of Government Affairs.

For the past year, Simons has served as HotelPAC coordinator in the AH&LA governmental affairs department.  With his promotion, he will continue to work with HotelPAC, the lodging industry’s largest political action committee, but also begin managing the duties of hotelLOBBY, AH&LA’s grassroots program.

“Jon’s knowledge of the legislative process, ability to juggle numerous responsibilities and work with our membership, has made him a valuable asset to AH&LA,” said Marlene Colucci, AH&LA executive vice president for public policy.  “The 11,000 members of AH&LA are a powerful grassroots voice on Capitol Hill, and Jon’s motivation to harness that energy for the industry will pay off as more legislative challenges surface this year in Congress.”

Prior to joining AH&LA in 2008, Simons was with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where he worked in the Chamber’s National Security and Emergency Preparedness Division on issues related to aerospace and defense.  A New Hampshire native, Simons graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2005 with a B.A. in Political Science.

hotelLOBBY is AH&LA’s innovative online grassroots program developed by the association to accelerate our members' political involvement with Congress.  Members can access the program and HotelPAC through www.ahla.com.
