Santa Fe, NM – (May 26, 2009) – Eldorado Hotel
& Spa is pleased to announce Wendy McGowan as spa director of the
Nidah Spa. McGowan brings 10 years of spa expertise to the
acclaimed property and now oversees daily operations of the 4,300
square-foot facility. McGowan is excited to be back in New Mexico
where she started her career a decade ago. Nidah Spa, known for
its unique treatments such as the Turquoise Gem Stone Therapy, features
seven treatment rooms and uses ingredients prepared fresh daily,
drawing from the natural healing properties of plants, legumes and
herbs indigenous to New Mexico. “The Nidah Spa is an important cornerstone of our hotel and the Eldorado experience. It was key to have the right person at the helm and Wendy is a perfect fit,” said Alfred Matter, general manager of Eldorado Hotel & Spa. “Her innovative vision and luxury spa experience will continue to position Nidah Spa as one of the leading spas in the region.” McGowan joins the Nidah Spa at an exciting time as the hotel recently took the signature spa experience to new heights with its in-room spa oasis, Nidah Spa Suites. Promoting peace and tranquility, these plush accommodations feature an in-room spa bar, oxygen pods, special spa dining menu, a nightly turndown service including travel candles or neck wraps, daily in-room spa treatment and more. In addition, Nidah Spa is the exclusive Santa Fe venue to offer exotic treatments such as the Venom Facial and 24-Carat Gold Facial. Both anti-aging treatments lift, tighten and hydrate skin giving the spa-goers the key to the fountain of youth sans botox. Before joining the Eldorado team, McGowan was the spa manager at W Hotel San Diego’s Away Spa where she supervised the daily operations of the five-star facility. McGowan knows first-hand the intricacies and techniques that go into pampering, as she was the lead aesthetician and massage therapist at Miraval Tucson Luxury Resort and Spa and at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson. McGowan embarked on her spa career at Albuquerque’s Zen Babies Day Spa as the spa manager. McGowan attended the University of New Mexico and received certification in massage therapy from the Universal Therapeutic Massage Institute and certification in aesthetics and nail technician from the Aveda Beauty College. McGowan has completed various trainings in specialized services and products such as JAMU Balinese facial, Glo Therapeutics advanced peel, Phytomer, MD Skincare and B. Kamins.
