Reopens 10 Months After Hurricane Dolly
Renovated Hotel and Adjacent Sapphire Spa and Fitness Center
Provide Entirely New Guest Experience SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX (May 11, 2009) Officials with the Sheraton Beach Hotel and Condominiums announced today the completion of a multi-million dollar restoration and the long-awaited reopening of South Padre Island’s only national brand full-service hotel property, and the Island’s largest hospitality employer. Officials also announced the opening of the Island’s first luxury Spa - The Sapphire Spa and “This has been a relentless team effort by the hotel staff to complete all projects to get the property reopened in time to welcome guests back to our resort, and I am intensely proud of our team,” said Steve Meadows, Executive Vice President of Posadas USA, Inc. who operates the hotel. According to Meadows, “A large part of the staff was retained to assist with the recovery efforts, and most of those who had worked for us prior to the hurricane have been brought back. And we have a sparkling, newly renovated property. And our guests love the changes.” As guests arrive they travel down a new driveway of interwoven brick pavers lined by lighted palm trees that lead the way to the hotel’s new porte cochere. Lush tropical landscaping throughout the property sets the mind to relaxation mode. The lobby, restaurant and bar, meeting rooms and all guest rooms have been completely renovated as has the landscaping, the pool bar and beach activities building. In addition, all guest room furniture and bedding has been replaced, and the beds are the plush, nine layer custom-designed Sheraton Sweet Sleeper II Beds. Every guest room features new flat panel televisions, new cordless telephones, in-room safes and refrigerators. Also new to the hotel is the Link@Sheraton, located in the lounge area that offers travelers a convenient on-line experience and the ability to stay connected to work, family and friends while on the road, so that being out of town doesn't mean being out of touch.
