Kjell Olsson to be Honored as 2009 CHTP of the Year
at HITEC
 AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA (May 12, 2009) – Hospitality Financial
and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) will honor Kjell Olsson, CHTP,
as the 2009 CHTP (Certified Hospitality Technology Professional) of
the Year during the Opening Session of the 2009 Hospitality Industry
Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) on Monday, June 22.
In its 12th year, the CHTP of the Year honors the individual that
scored the highest on the CHTP certification exam in a given year.
HITEC 2009 is June 22-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim,
Calif. Olsson is area director of IT for WHM, LLC which is the management company for LXR Luxury Resorts. Based at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel and Spa, he has held various positions at the hotel since 1992, working his way up from night audit clerk. He currently is responsible for IT of several WHM, LLC properties in the Florida area. Olsson has been a member of HFTP since 1997 when his Director of Finance encouraged him to further his finance and IT knowledge by attending HFTP conferences like the Annual Convention & Tradeshow and HITEC. Since then he’s also become active with his local chapter, HFTP Mid-Florida. Developed jointly by HFTP and the Educational Institute (EI) of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the CHTP designation is the ultimate achievement in hospitality information technology by showing a dedication to both the hospitality and technology industries. The CHTP exam was first given in 1994 at HITEC in Dallas, Texas. Since then, more than 250 professionals have earned the CHTP designation around the world. HFTP also administers the examination and awards the Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE).HITEC, produced by HFTP, is the world's largest hospitality technology exposition and conference.
