Personality Hotels Unveils Hotel Frank and Hotel Vertigo,
San Francisco, California Following $15 million Renovation

.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – JUNE 11, 2009 - Personality Hotels, San Francisco’s largest privately-owned boutique hotel operator, reignites the boutique hotel industry with the completion of its two new flagship properties - Hotel Vertigo and Hotel Frank. Spearheaded by hotel pioneer Yvonne Lembi-Detert, President and CEO of Personality Hotels, both hotels seamlessly reflect the individualistic style synonymous with the company and its leader.

Seeking a daringly creative yet approachable design, Lembi-Detert hired award-winning LA-based firm Thomas Schoos Design, Inc. to transform both San Francisco properties. Schoos, renowned for the interior designs of many top urban restaurants, hotels and nightclubs such as Los Angeles’ Huntley Hotel, Koi, O-Bar, Tao and Table 8 restaurants, did just that.

“My vision for Hotel Frank and Hotel Vertigo was to evoke a feeling of relaxing in the home you’ve always dreamed of owning,” says Lembi-Detert. “Inspirational style combined with great comfort is what I consider to be true hospitality, and Thomas Schoos impeccably accomplished both goals.”

Hotel Frank
After a $10 million transformation, Hotel Frank debuts a bold design that makes no apologies. Striking black and white houndstooth patterned carpet, which prevails throughout the hotel, surprising pops of emerald green and stylish, uniquely textured furnishings create an uptown, city-chic mix. Eclectic furnishings permeate throughout the lobby including a vibrant green, horsehair-covered sofa, a six foot high framed sofabed in white leather and a gleaming black lacquer desk. A massive crystal green chandelier beckons guests upstairs.

Guestrooms exude a tailored look with eye-catching houndstooth-patterned custom carpet, elongated leather crocodile-patterned headboards in emerald green and white couches, complemented by dangling hand-blown smoke glass bubble lights. Vintage 1930s photographs cut at atypical angles are framed off-center in ornate brass. Elegant bathrooms are outfitted in floor-to-ceiling carrera marble. All guestrooms feature amenities such as signature robes, in-room safes, 32” flat screen televisions and iPod docking stations.

Two expansive penthouses – the Urban and Skyline Lofts – are the ultimate in sophisticated city living. Perfect for an urban escape for two or hosting a chic soiree, both are outfitted with a large bedroom, living room, carrera marble bathrooms and large patios overlooking the excitement of Union Square. Sleek white tubs in the center of the room add to the avant-garde design.

Located in fashionable Union Square, the energy of San Francisco is just out the door, and the options are endless: from first-class shopping to world-renowned dining, from award-winning theater to a bustling arts district… even a ride on a classic cable car.

Hotel Vertigo
While Hotel Frank exudes a bold elegance, Hotel Vertigo suggests a sense of playful eclecticism. The 102-room Hotel Vertigo has undergone a $5 million renovation that includes a complete redesign of all guestrooms, corridors and lobby. Hotel Vertigo is named after Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 classic thriller staring James Stewart and Kim Novak (Novak’s character lived in the hotel during the last half of the film).

Reflecting a mix of classic French style and chic metropolitan city life, historic elements of the past beautifully play off modern design. As guests enter the gleaming marble lobby, they are welcomed by kitschy porcelain animal figurines sitting by expansive windows adorned with orange flowing curtains. Original 1920s columns with intricate detailing, soaring 25-foot high ceilings, a seven foot tall white and orange couch and high wing back chairs provide a glamorous setting for the movie Vertigo, shown 24 hours on a large flat screen.

Bathed in a palette of bright white, striking orange and French aubergine, guestrooms boast fun touches such as European porcelain white horsehead bedside lamps and lowered wing back chairs in vibrant orange glossy leather stitched with the Vertigo logo. Crisp white bedding with orange piping and glossy white lacquered nightstands add a clean, streamlined look. A nod to Hitchcock’s thriller can be seen in the wall art that is a contemporary play off the ‘swirl’ symbol in the movie. Bathrooms are stylishly designed with creamy white crocodile-patterned tiles, custom, dark walnut vanities with porcelain sinks, and oversized rain showerheads.

Five “Vertigo Suites” aptly named after characters in the movie – The Gavin, The Scottie, The Carlotta, The Midge and The Madeline – consist of large bedrooms with connecting living rooms with pull-out sofas. All guestrooms feature 36” flat screen televisions with satellite service, iPod docking stations, in-room movies, robes and slippers and in-room safes.

A neighborhood gem, Hotel Vertigo offers the best of both worlds – ideally nestled in a charming residential pocket of lower Nob Hill just off bustling Union Square and the downtown theater district. World-class shopping, theaters, art galleries, renowned restaurants and the nightlife are just a short walking distance from the hotel.
