Highgate Holdings Completes $30 Million Renovation at Parc 55 Hotel, San Francisco,
Will Celebrate
with 55-Hour Party, June 16 - 18

Redesign Includes Lobby, Guest Rooms, Club Lounge, Meeting
& Event Spaces, and Grand Opening of cityhouse Restaurant

Public invited to “Art in the Parc” and “Room with a View” at Union Square

SAN FRANCISCO (June 9, 2009) – Rob Gauthier, managing director of Parc 55 Hotel San Francisco, is proud to announce the completion of the hotel’s $30 million, top-to-bottom redesign.  The 18-month transformation was accomplished in two phases and includes upgrades to the 1,000 guest rooms and 15 suites, the Club Lounge and the Fitness Center, as well as a reconfiguration of the lobby, front desk, and meeting and event spaces.  The completion of the redesign also includes the debut of cityhouse, the hotel’s stylish new eatery overlooking bustling Market Street.  Ideally suited for both business and leisure travelers, Parc 55 Hotel is located in the heart of San Francisco’s shopping, dining and theater nexus, a short stroll from Union Square, and with easy access to the Financial District and Moscone Center, the city’s primary convention venue.

Parc 55 will kick off its 55-Hour Party and unveil its exciting new look with Art in the Parc, an open-to-the-public event showcasing contemporary art and live sculpture from San Francisco’s vibrant arts community.  Art in the Parc takes place in the hotel’s redesigned lobby on June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. and guests will have the opportunity to win a complimentary stay at Parc 55 and dinner at cityhouse.  Anyone who would like to attend the event is encouraged to register at [email protected]

To introduce the hotel’s new look to neighboring residents and businesses, Parc 55 presents Room with a View, a glass-enclosed replica of a refurbished guest room that will be on view at Union Square throughout the 55-Hour Party from June 16 – 18.

The extravaganza continues on June 17, with VIParc, an intimate, private celebration in the Presidential Suite and Private Rooftop Lounge.  Another private party, Fashionably Loud, a stylish evening of fun, fashion and music, tops off the celebration Thursday evening, June 18.

“As our many regular guests will attest, Parc 55 has always been characterized by warm, friendly and caring service and a do-whatever-it-takes commitment to ensuring that our guests have an extraordinary experience,” said Gauthier.  “Our new design and top-to-bottom upgrades raise the bar even higher.  We are very pleased with the ‘new’ Parc 55, and we’re eager for the whole city to come and celebrate our new look.”

Contemporary and sophisticated, Parc 55’s stylish new appearance, created by Gensler, a design firm at the forefront of green and sustainable architecture, encompasses the hotel’s entrance, lobby, reception area, dining room and lounge, and its award-winning meeting and special event rooms.  The approach throughout is modern, elegant, relaxed and comfortable, hewing to a color palette of rich browns and greys accented by subtle tones of red and blue.

All guest rooms and suites have been redesigned and refurnished, from 37-inch plasma video centers to exceptional high-quality linens.  Each room is also outfitted with a “Jack Pack,” a conveniently located power strip affixed to the side of the desk, providing outlets to recharge and connect cell phones, digital cameras, laptops, PDAs, and other electrical devices, saving guests from the all-too-familiar exercise of searching the room for electrical hook-ups.

Parc 55’s popular event space has been expanded to 30,000 square feet.  All meeting spaces and ballrooms have new carpeting, environmentally responsible lighting fixtures and contemporary window treatments and wall coverings.

Parc 55 has been recognized nationally for its prudent energy management strategies and is one of the few hotels in San Francisco to earn Energy Star designations from both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and from the U.S. Department of Energy.

The reception desk has been moved to the second floor, directly across from cityhouse, the hotel’s sleek and inviting new restaurant and lounge.  This creates a more intuitive path for visitors from the porte-cochere – home to a unique collection of integrated sculptures by internationally acclaimed San Francisco artist Ruth Asawa -- to the new “heart” of the hotel, comprising the reception area, concierge services and the cityhouse restaurant and lounge.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Brian Healy, the menu at cityhouse features a wide selection of items, ranging from all-American steaks and chops to freshly-rolled sushi.  The dramatic lounge bar is decorated in plush wine colors with rich, textured leather furniture, providing a casual environment for networking with colleagues or sharing small plates and signature cocktails with old friends.  cityhouse comfortably seats up to 174 and easily accommodates groups of all sizes.   The restaurant is also the home of the hotel’s popular “grab-and-go” food service for busy guests on a tight schedule.

The Club Lounge on the 31st floor has been redecorated in the warm, rich hues of brown, beige, copper and blue that are visible throughout the hotel.  Furnished with contemporary, comfortable seating, the Club Lounge is both elegant and relaxing, and offers exciting views of San Francisco’s magnificent skyline.  Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, light bites and cocktails in the Club Lounge from 6 a.m. through 10 p.m.

The newly renovated Fitness Center, accessible 24-hours daily, provides guests with an extensive variety of cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights for health-conscious business or leisure travelers.  A massage room has also been added.

Parc 55 Hotel is a short stroll from San Francisco’s world-renowned Union Square, the iconic address of Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and dozens of stylish boutiques.  Parc 55 is also across the street from Westfield San Francisco Centre, home of the second-largest Bloomingdale’s in the country, and just a block from the city’s major-production theater district.

The hotel has also long been popular with business travelers for its steps-away proximity to BART, the Bay Area Rapid Transit system.  Business travelers with appointments in Oakland, Emeryville, South San Francisco or other outlying cities can get to their meetings easily, without cab or car rental costs, and return to the hotel in plenty of time to enjoy Parc 55’s Happy Hour offerings and the city’s vibrant dining and nightlife.

Parc 55 Hotel San Francisco is located at 55 Cyril Magnin Street in San Francisco, near Union Square, and is owned and operated by Highgate Holdings in partnership with affiliates of Rockpoint Group, L.L.C.
