Leela Hotels, Palaces & Resorts Investing $300 million in Three New Indian Hotel Properties;
Opens the 322 room Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, Delhi N.C.R, India

Mumbai, INDIA � April 8, 2009 � One of India�s finest luxury hotel groups, The Leela Hotels, Palaces & Resorts is investing $300 million and adding three new properties in the next two years.  With five properties operational, three more hotels opening this year and next, and plans for three more, The Leela aims to be a major force in the Indian hospitality industry with a presence in the country�s major resort and business destinations.
      
As part of a new upscale, mixed-use development in New Delhi�s newest satellite business and shopping district, The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, Delhi (N.C.R) had its soft opening in January and will have 322 guest rooms and suites and 90 serviced residences.

The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, The Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts� first northern Indian property has been opened in Gurgaon, Delhi. It is not far from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) New Delhi. The hotel has 322 luxury guestrooms and suites, and an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, yoga and aerobic studios, a beauty salon and large spa. The leela Kempinski Gurgaon�s two Royal Club floors offer guests personalised and complimentary services and access to the Royal Club Lounge facilities. A display of contemporary Indian artwork makes it even more fascinating for the guests and enjoy their stay to the fullest. The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon also offers ballrooms, boardrooms and meeting rooms, and a business centre standing on over 25,000 sqm of area. The property also claims to have the largest banqueting facilities in the region.

The Leela Kempinski, Gurgaon however, will be managed by the Ambience Group. The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, Delhi (N.C.R.) is the first Leela property in northern India, and the first managed property for the Group. The group has hotels in Mumbai, Bangalore, Kovalam and Goa which have enjoyed a high rank ever since its first hotel was opened.

The Leela group was founded in 1957 by Capt. C.P. Krishnan Nair. The first hotel was opened in Bangalore in the presence of Capt. C.P. Krishnan Nair who fulfilled his long cherished dream on the occasion. The Leela group, other than luxury hotels and resorts, specailises in the business of ready-made garments.

Later this year, The Leela will unveil its newest palace hotel, The Leela Palace Kempinski Udaipur on Lake Pichola in one of India�s most romantic cities. Designed to evoke the life and times of India�s royal past with the rich architectural detailing of a traditional Indian palace, the hotel�s 80 rooms and suites will have all the latest conveniences.  The Leela Palace Kempinski Chennai will be the city�s largest business hotel when it opens in 2010 on seven acres of pristine seafront on the Bay of Bengal in the former Madras.  Also in 2010, in time for the Commonwealth Games, the 264-room Leela Palace Kempinski New Delhi will be built in the prestigious diplomatic enclave in the south of Delhi.     
      
The Leela has more new properties on the drawing board. Following the high-tech trail, The Leela plans to build hotels in Hyderabad and Pune.  A property in Agra, home to the Taj Mahal, is also in the planning stages.
