The Stanford Court, a Renaissance Hotel in San Francisco,
Undertaking of a Comprehensive, $35-million Renovation
.

SAN FRANCISCO, March 3, 2009 - The Stanford Court, a Renaissance Hotel, perched atop Nob Hill in one of San Francisco's most distinguished neighborhoods, has announced the undertaking of a comprehensive, $35-million renewal.

The historic hotel in San Francisco, which traces its roots to the mansion Leland Stanford built on the site in 1876, will emerge from its transformation as a sophisticated, contemporary, urban retreat for business and leisure travelers, celebrating its rich history while representing the best of San Francisco's style, charm and character.

Slated for completion this month, the renewal will encompass all luxury San Francisco suites and rooms, as well as the lobby, restaurant, porte-cochere and meeting room facilities. The hotel will remain fully operational throughout the renovation.

"Our goal has always been to provide our guests with experiences that are as distinctive as our Nob Hill address," said Scott McCoy, general manager of The Stanford Court. "Leland Stanford's mansion was designed to be a technological and aesthetic marvel, a showplace where he could share world experiences with his guests. We have remained true to that vision, integrating a sophisticated redesign with state-of-the-art technology and one-of-a-kind guest experiences that appeal to the senses and infuse guests with a sense of discovery from the moment they arrive."

About The Stanford Court, A Renaissance Hotel
The Stanford Court luxury hotel in San Francisco is ideally situated atop Nob Hill, one of the city's most fabled neighborhoods and the former playground of railroad barons and high society. The history of The Stanford Court dates back to 1876 when California Governor Leland Stanford built his mansion for the then-princely sum of $2 million. The mansion was destroyed in the devastating fire that followed the 1906 earthquake, but the ten-foot high wall of basalt and granite that surrounded the two-acre property survived, and a sizeable portion of it remains today as part of The Stanford Court. In 1912, the luxury Stanford Court Apartments was constructed and was later converted into The Stanford Court hotel. The Stanford Court is located at 905 California Street.
