Gary L. Avigne Named Chief Operating Officer for the
Woodstock Inn and Resort, Woodstock, Vermont

March 2, 2009 - The Woodstock Resort Corporation, owner of The Woodstock Inn and Resort, has announced the appointment of Gary L. Avigne as Chief Operating Officer. For the past three years, Gary has served as the Asset Manager for The Woodstock Resort Corporation, and is currently on its Board of Directors.  
 
Gary will work closely with Chester B. Williamson, who retired as President of Woodstock Resort Corporation in December 2008, after thirty-five years of service.  Chet will continue to serve as non-executive Chairman through 2009. In this role, he will work locally as a community liaison and be an ambassador for the Resort as it continues to target broader leisure, group and corporate markets.  
 
Well-known and respected within New England�s hospitality industry for decades, Gary is a principal of Coventry Hotel Associates Inc., offering financial and management consulting services to hotel clients nationwide.  �I am pleased and excited about the opportunity to transition The Woodstock Inn & Resort to its next generation and equally pleased to share this responsibility and challenge with Chet. The Woodstock Inn and Resort has, in the past two years, fully renovated each of its 142 guest rooms to the superior, yet comfortable, level of luxury consistent with its AAA Four Diamond status and with the standards of Preferred Hotels and Resorts. The Resort has also remodeled its ballrooms and meeting space, upgraded its Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed 18-hole golf course, and recently opened its new restaurant, The Red Rooster, already acclaimed for its sophisticated design, superior food and attentive service. Resort facilities include the Suicide Six downhill ski area, The Resort�s Nordic Center, The Resort�s Golf Club, and The Resort�s 41,000 square foot Racquet & Fitness Club. Construction will start on a new spa in spring 2009.  
 
The Woodstock Inn & Resort is owned and operated by The Woodstock Foundation, Inc. Proceeds from Resort operations support The Woodstock Foundation and Billings Farm & Museum education and conservation programs.
