The Dorchester Collection Building Coworth Park a New 69 room
Country House Hotel near Ascot, Surrey

January 2009  - Luxury hotel brand, Dorchester Collection is set to open a new 69 room country house hotel, to be called Coworth Park, near to Ascot and bordering on Windsor Great Park.   The hotel, which stands in 200 acres of Surrey parkland will also boast an equestrian centre with stabling for up to 40 horses, 2 polo fields and a practice field.

Scheduled to open in 2010 Coworth Park will be the ninth in the Collection.  The current portfolio of iconic hotels includes The Dorchester in London, The Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Le Meurice and Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris, the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, The New York Palace in New York and the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.  Dorchester Collection has recently announced the opening of another hotel, 45 Park Lane, London also in 2010.

Just 40 minutes from Central London, Coworth Park will be a valuable addition to the Collections UK portfolio.  It will have 69 rooms of which 30 will be in the main house and 39 will be in the converted stable block and adjacent cottages.    Guests will be able to enjoy the eco-luxury Spa, a bar and 2 restaurants (including a fine dining restaurant and casual restaurant with open air terrace) and outdoor pursuits such as archery and pitch-and-put golf.   Fox Linton has been appointed to manage the interior design and EPR as the architects.

The hotel will also boast leading edge green credentials.  To reduce energy consumption there will be a bio mass boiler within an underground Energy Centre.  This will be fuelled by burning willow which will be grown on the estate, a first for a UK hotel.  Fifteen acres of willow, with a 3 year growth cycle will ensure that the hotel is able to produce its own carbon neutral fuel supply.  Additionally, cooling for the hotel will be provided by a ground source water circulation system of underground pipes known as slinkys within the hotel grounds.

Dorchester Collection has ambitious plans for growth and recently announced the addition of two new hotels in New York and Los Angeles.  Commenting on this new hotel, Christopher Cowdray, CEO of Dorchester Collection, says, All our hotels have their own style of individuality and this new hotel will be no exception.   We are targeting 15 hotels in key North American and European cities in the next 5-10 years and we are delighted to be able to strengthen our UK portfolio with the addition of a country house hotel so close to the centre of London.
