Barry Shank, General Manager of the Residence Inn Houston Medical Center,
Recipient of the Residence Inn by Marriott Jim Conley Award

New Orleans Louisiana - January 31, 2009 - Residence Inn by Marriott honored Barry Shank, General Manager of the Residence Inn Houston Medical Center, a property owned and managed by Moody National Management Company, with the “Jim Conley” award.

Shank accepted the Award presented during the Annual Residence Inn Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana January 28 through 31, saying "I was surprised and overwhelmed when my name was called.

With more than 14 years in the hospitality industry, 11 of which were with various Marriott brands, Shank has built a team that truly delivers beyond guests expectations. Shank says of the award, "Normally I would have recognized that my team was the true recipient of the award but when my name was mentioned in the same sentence with a legend like Jim Conley, I was speechless." Shank went on to say, "I have never been so completely humbled and honored than I was to receive the Jim Conley Award."

The Jim Conley Award is awarded to those few elite people, who completely embody the 'Service So Memorable Culture' that is uniquely Residence Inn.

The Jim Conley Award

Jim Conley was a member of the Marriott team that helped transition Residence Inn into Marriott in 1987.  During his career with Residence Inn, he held positions of General Manager, Regional Director, Vice President of Human Resources and the emcee of many wonderful Residence Inn general Manager Conferences.   Jim embodied the Residence Inn culture and spirit.  He practiced Service So Memorable not only on his guests but also on his associates, family and friends.  As a leader he was gentle, caring and compassionate- the consummate mentor.  He had the ability to unite his audience through fun and laughter, often at his own expense, and to maintain close, rewarding relationships with everyone around him- associates, peers, marriott executives, owners and franchisees.  He was successful but he rarely accepted the credit.  His commitment to excellence was never-ending; just his presence made better.  He was dependable, consistent, and professional and he served as a role model for countless Residence Inn and Marriott associates.

"As we continue cultivating our relationship with Marriott, we could not be more proud of Barry Shank for representing Moody National Management Company in such a positive light with our Franchise partner, remarked David Gould, Vice President, Hospitality Division.

"People like Barry reinforce the fact that Moody National Management Company is "Uncompromising in the Commitment to Excellence, David Gould. “ With the driving force of General Managers like Barry Shank, we are paving the way to continue the rapid growth of our management company.
