ANGEL FIRE, N.M., Oct. 22, 2008 - Angel Fire Resort announced today that Tim Allen, Chairman of the Board, passed away yesterday, October 21, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Allen had been battling with cancer for the past two years. He is survived by his wife Carol, and their three sons, Hunter, Brice and Sykes. Memorial services will be held in Dallas. Condolence cards may be sent to the Resort at P.O. Box 130, Angel Fire, New Mexico, 87710. "We are profoundly saddened by the loss of Mr. Allen," said Dan Rakes, general counsel for Angel Fire Resort. "He was a close personal friend and colleague. A man of great integrity, vision and modesty, Mr. Allen made significant contributions to both the resort and the Angel Fire community. He had my utmost respect and to say he will be missed is an understatement." Mr. Allen was instrumental in the company's purchase and rescue of the resort in 1996. Under his direction and guidance for the next twelve years, the Resort invested millions in improvements and upkeep of the resort and its many amenities. In 1998 they added the Chile Express, the first of two high speed quad chairlifts and the first of its kind in the state of New Mexico. Over the course of the next several years, they built a new Children's Ski School, Day Care Center, Summit Restaurant, The Polar Coaster tubing hill, as well as adding terrain parks, snowmobile tours, Nordic ski area, new ski runs and mountain bike trails. He supported national and international events such as the 2007 National Collegiate Mountain Bike Championships, 2005 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and the 2004 USASA Snowboard National Championships. His goal and emphasis was to develop the best family resort in the country to the public and membership. An extremely private person, Mr. Allen shied from any media attention and therefore many of his charitable contributions to the community went unnoticed. He directed the Resort to donate land for Angel Fire's Shuter Library, Moreno Valley High School, the Village of Angel Fire, sports fields, trail easements, the future Plaza del Sol and numerous other projects. He made countless anonymous financial contributions to local non-profit organizations and through the resort, he donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of "in kind" donations for golf tournaments, raffles, silent auctions and other various non-profit fundraisers for the community. "He truly loved the Resort and Angel Fire community," said Pat Brunstad, CEO for Angel Fire Resort. "His legacy will continue as the resort moves forward with several major construction projects such as the Country Club re-build, Lodge remodel and land development projects." Angel Fire Resort will continue to operate as normal under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, Pat Brunstad, with advisement and direction from its Board of Directors.
