News for the Hospitality Executive
SUNNYVALE, CALIF. — OCTOBER 23, 2008 — As Vertical Systems, Inc. (VSi) continues to gain momentum as a global leader in guest-services technology for the lodging industry and add a long list of new products to its growing line of business solutions, the company has recruited industry veteran Richard Reyer to serve as Western Regional Sales Director. Reyer boasts more than 30 years experience in selling technology and capital products to hotels, previously holding senior sales positions at Zenith, Hitachi, Telematrix and Bittel USA.
“Richard Reyer adds a wealth of talent and experience to our organization,” said Saeed Kazmi, President of Vertical Systems inc. “He has spent years developing relationships among the industry’s best and brightest hoteliers and association executives. There is no one better than Richard to bring our exciting guest-service solutions to the industry – from our automated business centers and highly secure rental PCs to airline booking/reconfirmation and boarding pass printing kiosks and self-service shipping stations.”
VSi VP of Sales John Beasley said Reyer already is making noise about VSi’s solutions that serve the growing needs of business travelers at the hotel brands, associations and management companies where he has extensive relationships.
“At VSi we are extremely excited to get someone with Richard’s talents and experience to become part of our team,” Beasley said. “I’ve known him for more than 20 years, and along with his great wealth of industry knowledge, Richard is well known and well respected by hoteliers and vendors alike. If you want to attract attention, there’s no one better than ‘The Richard.’”
In addition to being successful in sales and executive management, Reyer’s accomplishments include being a participant in boards and committees such as the: Asian Hotel Owners Assn. Board of Directors, Americas Best Value Inns Board of Directors, American Hotel & Lodging Assn. Vendor committee, American Hotel Foundation Vendor Committee, Cendant Vendor Advisory Board and New York Hotel Show Vendor Advisory Board. He was honored with the Cecil B Day Award for service to the lodging industry.
Joining an Established, Winning Team
“VSi truly is the market leader in automated business centers for the lodging industry from an advanced technology and share of market perspective,” Reyer said. “In today’s economic climate, it’s critical that hoteliers partner with a company that is mature, established, and financially sound. Joining the VSi family was an easy decision for me because I believe in the company and the associates standing behind its products and services.”
Reyer said he believes the No. 1 concern facing hoteliers today is filling rooms while cutting costs and increasing amenities – not an easy task.
“VSi puts the same business tools -- with the same features and functionality -- that guests rely on at home at their fingertips while on the road,” he said. “The best part is, VSi can do this at little to no cost to the hotel. Management and owners cut costs because VSi manages all equipment and customer service. Hotel employees save time on performing routine tasks and devote more time to serving their guests. It’s a dynamite solution for operators and guests alike. I’m thrilled to be part of a winning team once again.”
