The 70 Year-Old Surftides Inn, Lincoln City, Oregon Receiving a
Renovation and Transformation to a Contemporary Hip Hotel

.

Lincoln City, OR (May 21, 2008) Renovations are underway in Lincoln City to transform the citys oldest continuously operating hotel into the newest, most unique lodging destination on the Oregon Coast - Surftides. This July, Surftides will be unveiled as a modern coastal getaway, complete with the vintage charm of an old-school resort and the contemporary style of a hip, boutique hotel.

For more than 70 years, the city and the hotel have evolved together, so this is a poignant moment for both, says Surftides owner and operator Ellen Picataggio. Lincoln City is a unique destination. Its a coastal getaway with great small town flavor, yet it also has a bustling city life and a great art scene you cant find this combination anywhere else in Oregon. The new Surftides embraces all of these experiences.

Built in 1936 along a stretch of pristine white sand beach, the 150-room hotel is currently undergoing a three-phase remodel by the interior design firm Curated., and will remain open during renovations. The redesign by Curated. will bring the property back to its roots as a vacation playground, complete with a bonfire pit, beach-style outdoor living spaces, a restaurant and lounge, tennis courts and a recreation dome with a swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and more.

Modernized guest rooms will blend the newest technology, like flat screen televisions and iPod docking stations, with historic features like in-room kitchenettes, beachfront balconies and suites with fireplaces and heart-shaped tubs. Spanning the full spectrum of warm and cool tones, the contemporary design playfully embraces the citys fabled light with colorful, interactive in-room lighting, grounded by organic elements like cork walls, textured materials and local art.

The new Surftides combines recreation with relaxation. Guests are encouraged to pedal around the city on one of the hotels beach cruiser bicycles or consult with the Adventure Concierge who can arrange outdoor activities ranging from mushroom foraging to clamming, and glass blowing to kite surfing. Were bringing back the flavor of the getaway experience, with a campus thats designed to give guests options, says Picataggio. While one person might prefer to whale watch from their room over a glass of wine at sunset, another may want to socialize with other guests over hot toddies during our daily Sunset Social at the outdoor bonfire. At Surftides, the experience is what you make of it!

The city is growing and changing, says Picataggio, but its still as timeless as when I grew up here. Ellen Picataggios parents, the Chos, have owned and operated Surftides for the past three decades and recently brought on Ellen and her husband Peter Picataggio to spearhead and re-brand the hotel through their Los Angeles-based Farmers Daughter Hotel Group. Together, the Picataggios recently reinvented the Farmers Daughter Hotel in Hollywood into a hip, boutique hotel.

Lincoln Citys charms are both obvious and hidden. Known for its hopping casino and shopping mall, finding the authentic Lincoln City requires peeling back layers and heading off the beaten path. A longtime Mecca for artists, painters and glass blowers, Lincoln City boasts miles of beaches, storybook sunsets, colorful locals, lively bars, and raw, rustic character in every corner. From tide pools to forests, custom kite stores to art galleries, and candy vendors to used bookshops, Lincoln City is a slice of an authentic Oregon coastal experience.

Surftides is located at 2945 NW Jetty Ave, Lincoln City, OR 97367.
