Hotels in One Building in Las Colinas, Texas
By Sheryl Jean, The Dallas Morning NewsMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

May 22, 2008 - InterContinental Hotels Group plans to build two hotels in one building in Las Colinas as it continues to test hotel innovations.

The hotel group said Thursday that the 85-room Hotel Indigo and the 150-room Crowne Plaza are expected to open in 2010. The hotels will have separate entrances, but they'll share public areas such as a fitness center and swimming pool.

The hotels are part of InterContinental Hotels Group's aggressively expansion plans for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. InterContinental Hotels Group plans to open 32 new hotels in the region in the next two years, said Steve Porter, president of the Americas. The new proposed Las Colinas hotels will be owned by Platinum Hospitality and managed by Patriot Hospitality.

Hotel Indigo and Crowne Plaza are two of InterContinental Hotels Group's seven hotel brands. The hotel chain launched the boutique Indigo brand a few years ago with an emphasis on personalized service and design to appeal to younger travelers. The only other Hotel Indigo in the region opened in downtown Dallas in late 2006.

"We feel that a community as unique as Las Colinas should have a mainstream alternative like Hotel Indigo," Jim Anhut, senior vice president of franchise development for InterContinental Hotels Group in the Americas, said in a statement. "Our branded boutique concept will provide our guests with a unique experience each time they visit, while still offering the conveniences and confidences they expect from a large company like IHG, such as Priority Club Rewards."

The Hotel Indigo Las Colinas will feature oversized lobby chairs, guestrooms with plush bedding and hardwood-style floors, a cool bar, and free wireless Internet access throughout. The Crowne Plaza Las Colinas will target business travelers and will feature more than 8,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, ergonomic chairs and technology such as backlit projection screens and Wi-Fi access.

InterContinental Hotels Group is the world's largest hotel chain with nearly 600,000 rooms.
