Marsha Twiss Appointed Director of Rooms for Benchmark's
Lansdowne Resort, Leesburg, Virginia
 The
Woodlands (Houston), Texas, February 2008 Benchmark Hospitality International
has announced the appointment of Marsha Twiss, CMP, as director of rooms
for Lansdowne Resort, the company's east coast flagship property located
near Leesburg, Virginia. Tom Manno, Benchmark's managing director
at the resort, made the announcement.
"It is with great pleasure that I announce Marsha's promotion," stated Mr. Manno. "She has been an invaluable resource to Lansdowne Resort over the years, providing strong leadership and creating an environment that fosters professional growth for her team and a superior guest experience for our customers." Previous to her promotion, Marsha Twiss was director of catering and conference services for the 305-guestroom Lansdowne Resort, a position she held since 1999. Prior to joining Lansdowne, Ms. Twiss was employed by The Ritz Carlton Tyson's Corner and the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC., serving in positions of increasing responsibility including front office manager, reservations manager, and manager of housekeeping. While at Ritz Carlton, she and her team became the first conference planning team in the company's history to achieve the designation of Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). It was as a young competitive swimmer, traveling to many upscale destination resorts, that Ms. Twiss developed a love for the hospitality industry -- and found her career. With the dream of one day working at a grand resort, Ms. Twiss pursued a degree in Hotel Management at Paul Smith's College, in Paul Smiths, New York. During her college years she gained experience by working in various areas within the hospitality industry, such as the Rooms Division, Food & Beverage and Stewarding. She also engaged in an internship at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. Twiss completed her education at Plattsburg State University, Plattsburgh, New York, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Marsha Twiss is active within the Professional Convention Management Association and the International Association of Conference Centers. She resides in Ashburn, Virginia.
