The Irvine Company Resort Properties Names Thierry Grandsire
General Manager of The Resort at Pelican Hill

Grandsire, who served as a senior executive at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company for 18 years, will join the ultra-luxurious
resort as general manager overseeing the destination's bungalows, villas, spa and retail space
  
Newport Coast, Southern California, October 29, 2007 - Thierry Grandsire, one of the luxury resort industry's savviest and most experienced executives, has joined The Resort at Pelican Hill as general manager.
 
Grandsire, a native of France who previously managed The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, is assuming responsibility for the resort's bungalows, villas, spa and retail space. Grandsire, 44, has been in the luxury hospitality industry for more than two decades. During his tenure, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, which frequently hosts heads of state and members of royal families, was named the best hotel in the Middle East at the DEPA awards, one of the industry's most prestigious honors. Prior to Doha, Grandsire served in senior executive roles at Ritz-Carlton properties in Pasadena, Marina del Rey and Laguna Niguel. He is a graduate of Nice University with a degree in economics.
 
Grandsire is one of the most sophisticated executives in the resort industry, both in terms of his business acumen and his unerring focus on excellent service, said Ralph Grippo, president of The Irvine Company's resort division. The Resort at Pelican Hill is a masterpiece in the making, blending the principles of Italy's most renowned architect, Andrea Palladio, with California comfort and style. The resort will open in two phases; Pelican Hill Golf Club, with 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf and signature Pelican Grill restaurant, on Nov. 2, 2007; all other components, including luxurious bungalows and villas, function space for every type of event and a spa with 22 private treatment rooms, in fall 2008.
 
Grandsire began his new role this month. He joins Giuseppe Lama, previously the general manger of Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, who is serving as managing director and will lead the resort's food and beverage operations.
 
When in opens next year, The Resort at Pelican Hill will include 204 bungalow rooms and suites; 128 villas; a dramatic, circular pool with an amphitheater of terraced decks inspired by Rome's Coliseum;  world-class dining options including exquisitely prepared Italian cuisine; a 23,000-square-foot spa offering therapies from around the world; function space including a facility with a separate arrival area; a wedding chapel; and a golf club with two 18-hole, Tom Fazio-designed courses.
