Alex. Brown Realty, Inc. and Piedmont Hospitality Complete
$1.6 million
Conversion of the Doubletree Club to a Full Service
Doubletree Hotel Atlanta Airport
Baltimore, MD (November 7, 2007) - Following a $1.6 million,
12-month renovation, the Doubletree Hotel Atlanta Airport has completed
its conversion from a limited-service Doubletree Club hotel to a full-service
Doubletree Hotel. The newly renovated and upgraded hotel, which is
adjacent to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, will
celebrate its re-branding starting November 8 and continuing through year
end.
As part of the re-branding effort, all renovations to the 220-room hotel were required to meet Doubletrees strict guest satisfaction standards. Renovations include a new full-service restaurant, a redesigned lobby and business center, a new fitness room by Precor, updated meeting and conference rooms, and completely renovated guest rooms. The hotel has operated as a limited-service Doubletree Club Hotel since 1998. In October 2006, Baltimore-based Alex. Brown Realty, Inc. (ABR) and Atlanta-based Piedmont Hospitality (Piedmont), which has managed the hotel since 2002, entered into a joint venture to acquire the hotel. Upon acquisition, the joint venture implemented the renovation plan to convert the hotel to a full-service Doubletree. The conversion is a great opportunity to add value to a well-located hospitality asset, commented Peter Bancroft, ABRs senior vice president. Raising service levels will elevate the profile of the hotel and position the property to compete more effectively against its competitive set. Piedmont did an outstanding job implementing the renovation program completing it on time and on budget, commented John Prugh, ABRs president and CEO. With renovations now complete, we look forward to working with Piedmont to further maximize the hotels value and generate strong returns for our investors. Known locally for its Christmas parties, social events and corporate gatherings, the Doubletree will offer special grand reopening room rates on selected nights through the end of the year. This significant renovation and brand conversion will enable us to do more of what we do best: serve the traveling public and our many local friends at the worlds busiest airport, commented Robert Baldwin, Piedmont Hospitalitys president and CEO. Alex. Brown Realty, Inc. (ABR) is a privately-owned real estate investment manager organized in 1972 and headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland.
