Auberge Resorts Opens First of its New Brand - the
89 room Solage Calistoga in Napa Valley, California
CALISTOGA, Calif., July 12, 2007 - The much-anticipated Solage Calistoga
opened today in Napa Valley, California. Paving the way for the next generation
of Napa Valley resorts, Solage Calistoga is a design-focused, environmentally
conscious resort featuring a hip bistro,
full-service spa offering treatments with a playful twist on Calistoga's
historic mud bath tradition, as well as exclusive Kate Somerville facials
and a 130-foot swimming pool surrounded by cabanas. Perfect for couples,
families, or groups, Solage Calistoga is a stylish yet welcoming destination
that invites guests and locals to relax and let time slip away as they
enjoy great conversation and exceptional food.
From the creators of Auberge Resorts, the 89-room contemporary style
property was designed by renowned Napa Valley architect Howard Backen.
Solage Calistoga's spacious rooms and suites were designed by San Francisco
firm Dowling Kimm Studios who interpreted Napa Valley's rural heritage
with a fresh style described as "Napa Barn meets San Francisco loft." Known
as "studios," the guest rooms feature open floor plans, warm color palates,
stone showers with pebble flooring and contemporary furnishings.
"We are excited to introduce Solage Calistoga, which brings something
entirely different to Napa Valley -- an environmentally conscious,
comfortably cool experience that is stylish yet welcoming," said Mark
Harmon, CEO of Auberge Resorts. "Solage Calistoga will also prove that
it is possible to operate sustainably without sacrificing style or luxury."
Guests can indulge in modern amenities including complimentary WiFi,
flat-screen televisions and iPod hookups, and special touches such as Italian
linens, down bedding and Sumbody all-natural artisan bath amenities. Two
complimentary cruiser bicycles are parked outside each studio for guests
to explore the 25-acre property and the nearby town of Calistoga and beyond.
Solbar - Napa Valley's Hottest New Restaurant
Executive Chef Brandon Sharp, an alumnus of Michelin-starred Gary Danko
in San Francisco, oversees the resort's centerpiece restaurant Solbar,
a stylish and inviting bistro offering a dichotomous menu of healthy and
nourishing "sol food" side-by-side with "down home" comfort food in an
indoor-outdoor setting.
Visitors can stop in for a glass of wine or sip a mojito from Solbar's
creative cocktail list while sharing one of the restaurant's "first bites,"
such as Hearth-Baked Sea Salt Flatbread Served with Four Sol Spreads
and Agnolotti of Homemade Ricotta Cheese Tossed with White Corn, Brown
Butter and Forni Brown Spinach or flavorful entrees such as Gently Cooked
Pacific Halibut with Baby Spinach, White Corn, Sweet 100 Tomatoes and Basil
and Beef Shortribs Stroganov with Egg Noodles, Horseradish and Maitake
Mushroom. Solbar features an open atrium and lounge area as well as an
outdoor patio and 20-foot fire pit surrounded by plush couches. Guests
can toast with flutes of champagne from Napa Valley's largest champagne
list while taking in views of the nearby mountains and vineyards.
Spa Solage - An Updated Approach to an Historic Tradition
The heart of the resort, the full-service 20,000 square-foot Spa Solage,
is a tongue-in-cheek ode to Calistoga's origin as a frontier spa
destination, with a clever lineup of experiences such as the "Mud Bar,"
where guests rest on elevated platforms, while being painted with
nutrient-rich local volcanic mud.
For guests seeking more traditional therapies, 14 treatment rooms offer
a variety of body treatments and massages, including Sports, Thai, and
Cranial Sacral. Spa Solage is also home to Northern California's outpost
from Kate Somerville, Los Angeles' most in-demand skincare guru. Skincare
consultant to Jessica Alba, Debra Messing, Molly Sims, and other celebrity
clients, Somerville offers signature treatments such as the DermaLucent
Phototherapy and DermalQuench treatment exclusively at Solage Calistoga.
To complete the pamper and prettifying process, Spa Solage offers Magic
Tan spray tanning, waxing and nail services.
Spa Solage encourages guests to break a sweat at the gym and movement
studio, which offers Pilates, yoga, cardio boxing and spinning classes,
as well as guided hikes and mountain biking.
Stay, Play and Chill at Solage Calistoga
During the day, guests can swim in the 130-foot swimming pool, choose
from a variety of activities and classes in the gym and movement studio,
enjoy body sculpting aqua classes, water yoga, bocce, shuffleboard and
horseshoes, or bike ride to the nearby town of Calistoga.
As the sun sets, Solbar is transformed into a hip lounge where guests
can enjoy live music, cocktails and food. For guests who prefer more peaceful
alternatives, Solage offers an in-room game menu featuring a selection
of popular board games such as Monopoly, Scrabble and Pictionary.
Sustainable Solage
Solage Calistoga proves that pampering guests and sustainability can
go hand-in-hand. The resort's chic, earth-friendly interiors are made from
natural, sustainably farmed and recycled materials and feature walnut and
beech furniture manufactured with non-toxic varnishes and wool upholstery.
Public spaces and Spa Solage feature bamboo and reclaimed cedar, and interiors
throughout the resort were finished with non-toxic, love-VOC paints to
eliminate harmful gases emitted by most conventional paints.
Taking a green approach, a variety of environmentally focused practices
have been incorporated throughout the resort, from the use of bicycles,
solar panels and environmentally safe method(R) cleaning products to locally
sourced food, environmentally sustainable landscaping, recycling and water
reclamation. Solage will minimize chlorine use in its pools by using an
ozone-based system to keep water clean.
