William “Billy-O” Orilio Named Outstanding Instructor of the Year
for the Hospitality Program at the San Diego State University CES

SAN DIEGO, Friday, June 29, 2007 — Hospitality and Casino Gaming instructor William “Billy-O” Orilio was honored as Outstanding Instructor of the Year at the San Diego State University CES Annual Certificates Graduation ceremony held Thursday, June 21 at the SDSU Athletic Center & Hall of Fame.

“I’ve always believed that information is to share or it holds no true value.  I’ve enjoyed sharing my knowledge as much as I have enjoyed my passion for this industry,” Mr. Orilio said.  “I’ve shared that knowledge for 22 years at San Diego Mesa College and the last three years at SDSU.  Tonight has inspired me to do it for another 25 years.”

Mr. Orilio was honored for his contribution to the Hospitality program during the 2006-2007 academic year.  The criteria for award winners was based on industry expertise and knowledge of the subject, interactive teaching style in the classroom, exceptional customer service skills with students and staff, and outstanding handout materials for participants.

The event was presided over by College of Extended Studies Executive Director of Professional Development Tamara McLeod, with a keynote speech by NBC 7/39 news reporter and SDSU alum Kimberly King.  The College’s motto of “Never Stop Learning” was a recurring theme in Mrs. King’s address and throughout the evening.

Mr. Orilio is the CEO of Orilio & Associates, Inc., a Hospitality Consulting firm that provides services to restaurants, hotels and casinos.  His experience in the Hospitality and Gaming industries spans decades and over 60,000 hours of documented on-site observations.  In addition to course instruction, he has served on the SDSU Hospitality Advisory Board since 2004.
