News for the Hospitality Executive
|LOVELAND, Colo., & SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - July 24, 2007
- Mr. John Q. Hammons today announced his plans to build an eight-story,
263-suite Embassy Suites® Hotel and adjoining 75,000-square-foot convention
center in Loveland, Colo. Located off I-25 and US-34, the development will
join The Ranch and Budweiser Events Center, a 243-acre fairground and events
complex in Larimer County. The all-suite, luxury hotel will be owned by
Mr. Hammons and managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels
& Resorts, the nation’s leading independent builder, developer, owner
and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites .
The Embassy Suites Loveland, Colorado Hotel and Convention Center will
reside on 20 acres of land on the northeast quadrant of I-25 and US-34
with convenient access to Greely; Fort Collins; Estes Park; Cheyenne, Wyo.;
Windsor; Longmont; Boulder; and Denver. The upscale facility will be next
to the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport and located near several of northern
Colorado’s largest economic drivers, including nearby Hewlett-Packard,
Agilent Technologies, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Hach Company, and one
of Anheuser-Busch’s breweries. Additionally, the hotel’s business will
be supported by Colorado State University, which has a resident student
population of 25,000 and boasts 6,980 faculty and staff. In addition, the
Embassy Suites Loveland, Colorado Hotel and Convention Center will be strategically
located near a new 1 million-square-foot, 60-acre shopping center being
developed by Loveland-based McWhinney.
Mr. Bob Herrfeldt, director of The Ranch, anticipates the hotel and convention center will produce approximately $65 million in revenue for Larimer County over the 55-year ground lease arranged with Mr. Hammons.
Construction of the 276,000-square-foot hotel is underway and is anticipated to open by March 1, 2009. Upon completion, the Embassy Suites Loveland, Colorado Hotel is expected to be the largest hotel north of Denver to Canada.
The Embassy Suites Loveland, Colorado Hotel and Convention Center marks the fourth full-service hotel Mr. Hammons has built along the Colorado front range and complements the company’s expanding western U.S. footprint. Earlier this year, Mr. Hammons also announced developments in Boise, Idaho, and Provo/Pleasant Grove, Utah.
