Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Appoints Valerie Thompson
as Vice President of Finance, The Americas
San FRANCISCO, August 13, 2007 � Wolfgang K. Hültner, CEO of the Americas, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, has announced the appointment of Valerie Thompson as Vice President of Finance, The Americas, effective today.

Based in San Francisco, Ms. Thompson will oversee all aspects of the financial operations of the company�s five luxury hotels in the Americas, as well as the portfolio of eight hotels and resorts in development in the region.  Ms. Thompson will report directly to Mr. Hültner and will work closely with Mandarin Oriental�s global finance department, headquartered in Hong Kong.

�Val Thompson will be an integral part of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in the Americas as our company pursues its successful growth strategy in the region,� said Mr. Hültner. �Her accomplishments and experience will be a valuable asset for the Americas team and for our Group globally.�  

Ms. Thompson brings 25 years of finance experience to Mandarin Oriental.  Prior to joining the group, Thompson was Vice President, Operations Accounting for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Inc.  She also held the position of Controller at widely respected hotel companies, including Shutters on the Beach and Stouffer Hotels and Resorts.

Ms. Thompson obtained a Master of Science degree in Business Administration, Finance from California State University, Northridge.
