PALM SPRINGS, CA . August 2007 - Seattle-based Noble House Hotels & Resorts, owner of the 404-room legendary Palm Springs Riviera Resort & Spa, has announced the appointment of sales industry veteran Jim Lopez to director of sales and marketing, according to Noble House Vice President of Sales Ted Davis.

Lopez, who brings more than 30 years of venerable hospitality sales and marketing experience to the Riviera, will be responsible for directing and implementing the pre-opening and opening sales efforts as well as the propertys overall marketing, advertising and public relations efforts.

After purchasing the iconic property in late May 2006, Noble House closed the Riviera to spearhead an estimated $50 million transformation that will include extensive revitalization to the guest rooms, lobby area, grand entrance, restaurant, meeting facilities, courtyards, pools and landscaping.  New elements will also include signature dining and a world class spa.  The property is tentatively scheduled to re-open in Fall 2008.

We are thrilled to have Jim on board to direct our sales and marketing efforts for the Palm Springs Riviera, said Davis.  This is an exciting project for the company, and with Jims extensive experience, established contacts and knowledge of this market, were firmly aligned to reposition the Riviera as the markets premiere, ultra-chic destination resort.  Were confident when this project is complete, the re-opening of the Riviera will ignite a spark in the revitalization of Palm Springs.

Prior to joining the Palm Springs Riviera Resort & Spa, Lopez was most recently the director of sales and marketing for the Wyndham Palm Springs.  Before that, Lopez had a long, illustrious career with Marriott Hotels & Resorts holding similar positions with Marriotts Shadow Ridge Resort and Marriotts Desert Springs Villas in Palm Desert; the Marriott Kauai Beach Club in Maui, and Marriotts Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, CA.  Lopez spent 10 years as the director of sales and marketing for Marriotts Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert where he was responsible for the pre-opening and opening of the 895-room mega resort in 1987.

During his tenure with Marriotts Desert Springs, the Marriott Corporation awarded Lopez with a Special Achievement Award for pre-opening and grand opening marketing plans; in 1988 awarded him Director of Marketing for the Outstanding Sales Team for the Western and Pacific Region; and in 1989 awarded him Resort Director of Marketing for the Year over all Marriott properties.

Lopez was Chairman of the Promotions Committee for the city of Palm Desert from 1984 1989; was the Chairman of the Hospitality Industry Business Council/PSCVA from 2000 to 2002; and has been an active member of the Planning Commission for the city of Palm Desert since 1997.

Aside from his two years with Marriott in Maui, Lopez and his wife Robin, and two sons Chris and Matt have resided in Palm Desert for more than 25 years.  He can be reached at 760-880-9550.
