Ellen D. Adelman has been tapped to serve as vice president of sales and
marketing of The Resort at Pelican Hill™, the extraordinary destination
resort The Irvine Company Resort Properties is creating overlooking the
Pacific Ocean in Southern California’s Newport Coast®.
The Resort at Pelican Hill is a masterpiece in the making, blending the principles of Italy’s most renowned Renaissance architect, Andrea Palladio, with California comfort and style. The resort will open in two phases: Pelican Hill Golf Club®, with 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf and a signature restaurant, this fall; all other components – from the bungalows and villas to the function space for every type of event, luxurious spa with 22 treatment rooms, wedding chapel, additional restaurants and “Coliseum” pool – in fall 2008.
Adelman comes to The Resort at Pelican Hill with 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality sales and marketing. Most recently, she was the vice president of marketing and sales for Beverly Hills-based Edward Thomas Company, where she oversaw Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, Calif., and Hotel Andalucia in Santa Barbara, Calif. Previously, she was national director of sales for Dallas-based Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.
Additional experience includes serving as director of sales for The Plaza Hotel in New York, as director of national accounts at Fairmont Hotel Management Company in San Francisco, and as director of sales and marketing at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.
“Ellen is one of the savviest, most creative sales and marketing executives in the luxury resort industry,” said Ralph Grippo, president of The Irvine Company Resort Properties and managing director of The Resort at Pelican Hill. “The team she is assembling will help position the resort as one of the finest in the world."
In the coming months, Adelman’s top priorities will be to recruit a talented and experienced sales and marketing team, create strategic partnerships on behalf of the resort, and establish a range of premier incentive programs.
The Resort at Pelican Hill promises to establish a new paradigm for resort style, comfort and beauty. It will be a sanctuary at one with its spectacular seaside setting, reflecting Renaissance-era architectural principles of simple grace and harmony with nature while balanced with relaxed California style.
The resort will offer 204 bungalow rooms and suites; 128 villas; a dramatic, circular pool with an amphitheater of terraced decks inspired by Rome’s Coliseum; world-class dining options from exquisitely prepared Italian cuisine to steaks and seafood; a 20,000-sq-ft. spa with therapies and treatments from around the world; 20,000-sq.-ft. of function space including a facility with a separate arrival area; and a stunning Italian-style wedding chapel.
