BARCELONA, SPAIN (August 20, 2007) Set in Spain's most
design-conscious city, Casanova Hotel in Barcelona has been re-imagined
from an 18th century limestone wealthy residence into an urban chic hotel.
Set to debut its hip elegant décor in October 2007, the 124-room,
eight-story Casanova blends modern design with theatrical flair. Samir
Saab, concept designer of such notable properties like Ikal del Mar and
Esencia in the Riviera Maya and La Pleta in the Spanish Pyrenees, took
a cue from Barcelona's Gaudi architecture and buzzing arts scene to re-fashion
Casanova. The new design look, with designer names like Ron Arad and Anthony
Duffeleer, aims to appeal to chic trendsetters and savvy urbanites.
Ideally located in the heart of Barcelona, Casanova is within walking distance
of Las Ramblas, major museums, the city's convention center, the Metro
and a short taxi ride to the beach.
Highlights include the angular sun-lit lobby with pistachio back-lit
bar, whimsical lighting fixtures and sculptural chairs. One bedroom suites
feature balconies and rain shower bathrooms. Retro-inspired furnishings
with modern flat screen plasma televisions decorate the guestrooms. Several
rooms feature Murphy beds that can be drawn up allowing more space for
meetings. All guestrooms and public areas are equipped with WiFi. Business
travelers can access the virtual business center by using their own or
hotel-provided laptops, which are connected to the hotel's system for printing,
scanning and copying needs. Mexiterranean cuisine is served at Mexiterranée
restaurant inside Casanova, fusing Mexican, Catalan and Mediterranean ingredients.
Coming in November 2007, the garden spa will feature a tranquil courtyard
with couple's cabana and three indoor treatment rooms.
