 HFTP Establishes Student Chapter at Hong Kong Polytechnic University;
HFTP Also Bringing GUESTROOM 2010 Presentation to HOFEX
.
AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 10, 2007) Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) CEO and executive vice president, Frank Wolfe, CAE, and HFTPs international president, Agnes DeFranco, Ed.D., CHAE, will travel to Hong Kong to represent HFTP at one of the largest hospitality service industry shows in the world. While in Hong Kong they will participate in the education program of HOFEX 2007 (Asian International Exhibition of Food & Drink, Hotel, Restaurant & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies & Services) and represent HFTP as the HOFEX Welcome Reception sponsor. In addition they will celebrate the newly-formed HFTP Hong Kong Polytechnic University Student Chapter.

HFTP is scheduled to present three educational sessions based on the technology featured in its GUESTROOM 2010 at the upcoming HOFEX. The presentations, given by Wolfe, will provide an in-depth look at the latest and near-future guestroom technology featured in the popular HFTP exhibit, GUESTROOM 2010.

HOFEX will be held May 1316 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Wolfe will speak with 200+ hotel general managers from the Asia Pacific region on May 13 at 3 p.m. about future technology for hotels, including biometrics and robotics. He will also present two other GUESTROOM 2010 sessions on May 14 at 5 p.m. and May 15 at 2:15 p.m.

"The GUESTROOM 2010 Technology Advisory Council conducted extensive research on technology, searching for guestroom technology that would be realistic, as well as provide wows to stimulate conversation," said Wolfe. "We have had a very enthusiastic response to the exhibit, with many shows inviting us to put it on display. While it wouldn't be feasible to take the full exhibit on the road, we have instead devised a comprehensive GUESTROOM 2010 presentation, giving us a more manageable format to travel with."

DeFranco will speak to the Hong Kong Controllers Association at the Marco Polo Hotel, May 15 at 2:30 p.m. She will also give a presentation on teaching and learning to the faculty of Hong Kong Polytechnic University on May 16 at 2:30 p.m.

HFTP will participate in a reception at HOFEX by co-sponsoring the event with Who Is Who In Hospitality (WIWIH), which will be held on May 15 at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

While in Hong Kong, Wolfe and DeFranco will visit the newly formed HFTP Hong Kong Polytechnic University Student Chapter on Friday, May 11 at the Millennium Restaurant to celebrate its charter, with both DeFranco and Wolfe addressing the newly formed chapter. It is the second student chapter outside of North America, with the first at the Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne in Switzerland.

The establishment of the HFTP student chapter at Hong Kong Polytechnic University is the first of its kind in Asia, said Henry Tsai, Ph.D., CHE, HFTP student chapter advisor. It will provide a forum for those students who are keen on making a difference in the profession of finance and technology in the hospitality industry.

HFTP student chapters offer student members the ability to communicate with their peers regarding todays challenges in the job market. Student chapters also provide great resources and educational programs to keep students on the leading edge of finance and technology in the hospitality industry.
