News for the Hospitality Executive |
ORLANDO, Fla., May 2007Employees watching iPods® on
the job? Thats not necessarily a problem, as long as the iPod® is
loaded with hospitality training content from the American Hotel &
Lodging Educational Institute (EI). Through a new collaboration with p.o.d.
TrainingTM (Portable On-Demand Training), hospitality employers can now
purchase a unique new training system designed to capture the attention
of a new generation of workers.
The Portable Hotel Trainer, available in both Full Service and Limited Service versions, features content from EIs training videos, broken down into short segments ideal for pre-shift sessions, reinforcement, and ongoing training. The portable media player allows training to be brought into the work area, where employees can watch a clip on the iPod®, then immediately practice the skill. The play list feature enables trainers and trainees to target the exact training content needed, instead of watching through an entire video to find one piece of information. Portable devices allow businesses to train what is needed, where it is needed, when it is needed, said T.J. Schier, president and founder of Texas-based p.o.d. TrainingTM. Training time is dramatically shortened by bringing the training right into the work area. Watching short video clips followed by immediate skill practice balances high tech and high touch and gets the employee up to speed more quickly and allows for daily reinforcement in the workstation to keep training top of mind. The Portable Hotel Trainer package includes a 30GB iPod®, a protective case on a lanyard, a TV cable to play clips on a TV or LCD projector, a power adaptor, and 10 earbuds. The Full-Service version features content from these EI videos:
