Colonial Williamsburg, in Williamsburg, Va.

Rockville, MD June 14, 2007 - WTS International has selected Kate Mearns, immediate past chair of the International Spa Association (ISPA), to manage The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg, in Williamsburg, Va. Mearns is a well-known industry figure who has appeared on the Travel Channel and is frequently quoted in spa- and travel-industry publications. As chair of ISPA, she represented the spa industry in numerous speaking engagements and partnership alliances worldwide.

Kate Mearns is an exceptionally knowledgeable leisure-industry expert who has been at the forefront of the emerging spa industry since it began its explosive growth over a decade ago, said Gary Henkin, president of WTS International. Kate will lead our efforts to provide each guest of The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg with a truly memorable spa experience that contributes to their wellbeing.

The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg recently opened in Spring 2007. WTS International worked closely with renowned spa consultant, Sylvia Sepielli, to develop the facilitys concept and design. The creative menu of services (including signature treatments) was influenced by research into healing methods practiced by Native Americans, English settlers, Africans and other immigrant groups from around the world.

With the opening of this world-class spa, Colonial Williamsburg is enhancing its reputation as a truly unique leisure destination, said Joseph OCallahan, assistant to the president of the Colonial Williamsburg Company.

The spa, a component of the Resort Collection of Colonial Williamsburg, is located at 307 South England Street in Williamsburg, conveniently near the historic Williamsburg Inn, the newly renovated Williamsburg Lodge and the famous Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. The 20,000-square-foot spa includes indoor and outdoor pools, locker rooms, a complete fitness/wellness facility, luxurious relaxation lounges, spa dining, and a beautifully appointed salon conservatory. The site is the former location of the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, and the spa is entered by way of a wisteria-covered arbor next to a formal garden and fountain. Glavé and Holmes Associates of Richmond were the architects for the buildings transformation, a firm experienced in the renovation and adaptive reuse of historic buildings or projects in historic settings.

WTS International is a 34-year-old company based in Rockville, Maryland that specializes in the planning, design and management of spas, fitness facilities and leisure complexes at hotels, resorts, golf and country clubs, and luxury residential properties worldwide. The company provides feasibility studies, design consultation, pre-opening and daily operations/management services, www.wtsinternational.com.
