China Top 10 Hotel Chains and Top 10 Tourist Destinations
Revealed in Inaugural TTG and Euromonitor Study
.
REPORT - IT&CM April 24, 2007 SHANGHAI: Following a six-month long research period from September 2006 to March 2007, TTG and Euromonitor International revealed the results of the inaugural China Top 10 ranking. This  first-ever China-wide research aims to rank the countrys top performing travel and tourism organisations in a bid to identify major players in the Chinese travel and tourism market.

The China Top 10 study covered five categories: Hotel Chains, Airlines, Travel Retail Companies, Tourist Attractions and Tourist Destinations.

Companies ranked among the top 10 revealed at Incentive Travel & Conventions Meetings China 2007 (IT&CM China) on 23 April during the opening ceremony and welcome reception at Le Meridien She Shan Shanghai.

TTG Asia Media managing director, Mr Darren Ng, said: "The rankings will help current and potential investors gain a clearer picture of Chinas dynamic and fast-growing travel and tourism industry, and to identify the major industry players of the industry."

Euromonitor International, the official market information provider in this study, used a comprehensive multiple-source approach. Over 50 sources, which included a wide range of official data, local trade press information and interviews with players from all areas of the industry, were utilised to track the revenue of major players in key sectors.

Euromonitor International (Shanghai) Co Ltd Director, Daniel Melone, said: "We hope to continue building our relationship with key tourism industry players in China and strengthen our research even further over the next few years. We believe that Euromonitor Internationals market intelligence studies and databases are instrumental in contributing to the great success and growth of Chinas tourism industry."

Delegates at IT&CM China attended a seminar on the findings from the China Top 10 study. Euromonitor International senior consultant, Ms Liyun Zhang, presented a session on China Top Ten: What Makes a Top Ten Player, on 24 April at the Grand Ballroom, Level 3, Sheraton Grand Shanghai Tai Ping Yang.
