Design

Lead architect Kume Sekkei was selected for its environmentally responsible approach. The �green� specifications of The Place Hotel & Spa include a triple-glazed exterior that utilises the latest low-e glass to reduce noise, heat and ultra-violet intrusion. Solar panels will gather energy from the southern façade with internal temperatures closely monitored and constantly adjusted to minimise energy consumption. All are features of the latest practices in �passive� environmental architecture. 

Jaya and Associates and the Layan Design Group have been commissioned to develop a design that�s in accord with the park surroundings. The resulting design is an elegant, understated space in contemporary Chinese style that combines natural tones and textures in harmonious order. 

Developed by Shanghai Cross Ocean Property Development, The Place Hotel & Spa is an integral component of the multi-use Park Place development that promises to become a new business landmark on Nanjing Lu West. Park Place is a beacon for the opulent lifestyle, it includes a Grade A office tower and a luxury retail complex, set at the hub of unrivalled transport connections. Nanjing Lu West is one of the city�s most famous thoroughfares and the hotel is also adjacent to the Central YanAn elevated highway, the most direct and efficient route to the airport. 

A dramatic 32-metre Long Bar will be the focus of activity at the hotel. It is intended to function as a contact point and multi-tasking staff will be equally happy to check-in guests, pour them a glass of wine or answer general queries. The in-house restaurant will focus on cooking up international fare and local Chinese specialities. 

An atmosphere of quiet relaxation will be enhanced by the spa situated adjacent to the indoor swimming pool. It will complement the hotel with a design that makes the most of the surrounding parkland with beauty treatments, soothing massages and revitalising baths.

Rooms are generous in size and height. Even the standard room size is 45sqm and every room has three-metre-high ceilings. The rooms will be carefully furnished in materials of the finest quality and will have a number of carefully considered amenities like personal espresso machines, a printer and deep baths with views over the park and the city.
