Portland, Ore.March 29, 2007 - The ongoing efforts of the Hilton Portland & Executive Towerone of the countrys first hotels to green its operations and the largest hotel in Oregonhave been recognized by Green Seal with the coveted Green Seal Lodging Properties certification (www.greenseal.org). Green Seal is a non-profit organization that promotes the management, purchase and use of environmentally responsible products and services. In 2005, Hilton Portland & Executive Tower turned its attention to greening hotel operations. The 782-room Hilton Portland & Executive Tower recognized the opportunity to reduce impact, improve sustainability, replace toxic products with eco-friendly products, save energy and save money. Focusing efforts to green hotel operations is not only a great business opportunity, it is also the right thing to do, said Tracy Marks, General Manager of the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower. With one of our buildings constructed in 1963, the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower is proof that you dont have to be a new building to be green, he continued. Marks, previously of Hilton San Francisco, has been a proactive green leader in the lodging industry. The hotels Executive Tower, added in 2002, was included in the Green Seal certification. Hilton Portland & Executive Tower developed an ambitious four-year schedule detailing energy conservation improvements from 2006 through 2010. In 2006, management initiated modifications were seen throughout all aspects of hotel operations, including:
