Re-branding and Renaming of the Lakeway Resort and Spa
|AUSTIN, Texas (April 18, 2007) ~ More than 200 guests from across the
nation joined Dolce International, Behringer Harvard and country singer-songwriter
Kelly Willis in a weekend celebrating the launch of Lakeway Resort and
Spa, the legendary resort situated on the shores of Lake Travis in Austin,
Texas. Unmistakably unique as Austin itself, Lakeway Resort and Spa underwent
a multi-million redevelopment, re-branding and renaming over the past two
years, when it was purchased by the Texas-based Behringer Harvard Funds,
a Dallas real estate investment firm.
Formerly the Lakeway Inn, the Lakeway Resort and Spa joined Dolce International's 23 Hotel, Resort & Conference Destinations in the U.S., Canada and Europe two years ago when Dolce was awarded the management contract.
The classic Lake Travis resort is a hybrid of intelligent style and
unpretentious, Austin class. While the new full-service San Saba Spa and
a 5,200-square-foot, glass-enclosed ballroom overlooking the lake top the
list of amenities, no area of the resort was left untouched. Two presidential
suites and 166 spacious guest rooms were remodeled; 24,000 square feet
of lakeside meeting rooms were updated; a new executive chef now oversees
the acclaimed Travis restaurant and two remodeled bars (Josey's and The
Back Porch); three new tiers of lakeside swimming pools with a swim up
bar and a "little devil's cove” with it's own two story waterslide; and
a Poolside Grill have been added.
Nearby, the World of Tennis facility offering indoor and outdoor courts, four championship golf courses and a full-service marina for fishing, sailing, boat rentals, water sports and private charters make Lakeway Resort and Spa a one of a kind Texas resort destination.
"The glass ballroom is a true masterpiece” said Jeff Burns, General Manager. "We wanted to capture the uniqueness of this land and create a building that would complement the beautiful views of the rolling hills and miles of the Lake Travis shoreline”. "Our guests will marvel at the beauty inside and out”.
Nothing has been left out. Among the innovations is a new partnership with Camp Champions, a central Texas accredited boys and girls summer program established in 1967. The first of its kind, the program will allow children staying at the resort exclusive summer access to Camp Champions at Lakeway Resort and Spa. Children ages 5-16 are a short, on-site barge ride away from a variety of recreational activities, including week-long, sport specific training from Camp Champions staff and counselors on how to sail, fish, wakeboard, water ski, play golf or tennis.
"Lakeway Resort and Spa is a magnificent lakeside resort in a quickly expanding market,” said Steve Giblin, President and Chief Operating Officer of Dolce International. "Because of Austin's strategic location between Dallas and Houston, Lakeway has long been considered the most convenient location for meetings and vacations. Lakeway Resort and Spa is the only resort of its size and stature on Lake Travis.”
The weekend long launch 'The Rebirth of a Legend' included a spectacular pool side welcome reception with the band 'Big Blue Hearts'. Saturday morning guests had their choice of a sailing regatta, fishing, golf or spa services. The pinnacle of the weekend was the breathtaking chef table in the new glass ballroom with a special interment performance by Kelly Willis.
