 The
Woodlands (Houston), Texas, January 18, 2007 � Benchmark Hospitality International
has announced the appointment of Alex C. Cabañas as director of
capital markets and strategic planning for the leading hospitality management
company. Dennis Blyshak, chief financial officer, made the announcement.
Mr. Cabañas will be based at the company�s Home Office, located
near Houston.
�We are so pleased to welcome Alex to our executive management team,� said Mr. Blyshak. �With his background in strategic planning and financial management, he will play a significant role in the future growth of Benchmark Hospitality International.� As director of capital markets and strategic planning, Alex Cabañas is responsible for the development of investor relationships and financial platforms necessary to support growth opportunities for Benchmark and the properties within its expanding portfolio. In his new role, Mr. Cabañas also actively supports new project development initiatives and provides strategic planning direction to the company. Alex Cabañas joined Benchmark Hospitality in January of 2006 and immediately began a one year competency based program, serving in all operational areas at two Benchmark properties: Cheyenne Mountain Resort of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and French Lick Resort Casino, located in French Lick, Indiana. He served as an active member of the executive team at both properties and was part of the opening task force for French Lick Resort Casino. Prior to joining Benchmark, Cabañas was a member of the global consulting team at The Boston Consulting Group, operating out of the company�s Dallas offices. In this position, he was responsible for developing and implementing business solutions for clients� strategic and operational challenges. While there, he worked with clients in a variety of industries, including travel & tourism, government, consumer and retail, telecommunications, e-commerce, financial services and energy. In this role, Cabañas was actively engaged in developing and delivering lodging investment strategies, market sizing studies, segmentation and competitive benchmarking analyses, and new product development initiatives. He was also active in process management and asset valuation, as well as new business development opportunities and growth strategies. Alex Cabañas is a graduate of Harvard Business School with a Masters in Business Administration degree. He holds a Bachelor in Business Administration degree and also a Master of Science in Finance degree from Texas A&M University. Mr. Cabañas resides in The Woodlands, Texas, with his wife Heather and son Matthew.
