WATERFORD, CT (October 30, 2006) --- Len Wolman, chairman
and CEO of Waterford Group, has been named Connecticut Lodging Association�s
�Hotelier of the Year�. The award was presented by Simon Flynn, President
of Connecticut Lodging Association, at the association�s annual Salute
to Excellence Awards and Recognition Dinner on October 23.
Since 1986, Waterford Group has been involved in developing and operating
projects totaling more than $2 billion. Today, under the leadership of
Chairman Len Wolman, Waterford Group, LLC is a leader in the hospitality
and gaming industry, largely because of its unique composition of specialized
companies, including Waterford Hotel Group, Inc, Wolman Construction, Waterford
Gaming, LLC, Waterford Venue Services, Waterford Group Restaurants, and
Waterford Hospitality Group, LLC. Waterford Hotel Group currently operates
26 properties in eight states, 19 of which are located in Connecticut.
Simon Flynn (left) congratulates Len Wolman on being named Hotelier of the Year In receiving the prestigious honor, Wolman was cited for his substantial contribution to the advancement of travel and tourism in Connecticut and his role in communicating the economic, cultural and social importance of the travel industry. Responding to the award Wolman said: �It is an honor to be recognized by the Connecticut Lodging Association. I accept this award on behalf of my partners and associates of Waterford Group. Our accomplishments are the result of a team effort --- and there are many individuals that work hard each day,� said Wolman. �This award is for all of you,� Wolman commented to the more than 60 Waterford associates in attendance at the dinner. Len Wolman was born and raised on a farm in a region of South Africa that later became a resort called The Rocks. After military service in the South African Airforce, he attended the Witwatersand Hotel School in Johannesburg where several years later, in 1993, he was honored for his accomplishments with the school�s Special Achievement Award, given to only 11 other people in 25 years. Wolman�s early career included running a family resort in South Africa and management positions with a large hotel company in that country. In the United States, he experienced every aspect of hotel management while holding executive positions with such major companies as Westin, Hyatt, Four Seasons and Holiday Inn before joining Waterford Hotel Group in 1986. |
