Progressive Design, Individualised Hotel Experience Highlight the
Three New Additions to Hotel Consortium design hotels(tm)
December 8, 2006 - Three of the newest members of the international hotel consortium design hotels(tm) are opening their doors: The Nam Hai in Vietnam, Goldman 25hours in Frankfurt and The Library in Koh Samui.

Reflecting the dynamic character of the design hotels(tm) overall portfolio, these 3 properties have each taken a unique approach to creating a very individualised hotel experience:

THE NAM HAI - Quang Nam Province, Vietnam

Located directly on Vietnam's famous China Beach, The Nam Hai is an exclusive all villa resort and the new flagship property of the GHM group - renowned for The Setai in Miami and resorts throughout Asia.

The 60 one-bedroom villas and 40 pool villas - ranging in size from one to five bedrooms - are a collaboration between architect Reda Amalou of Paris-based AW2 and interior designer Jaya Ibrahim. Each exquisitely private space features large bedrooms and living spaces, in-suite bathtubs and luxurious bathrooms, which open out to private gardens.

Like traditional Vietnamese houses, the villas feature multiple levels and timber structures. In the interiors, the tone for contemporary elegance and a fusion of Asian tradition and European flair is set with dark woods and neutral fabrics and accents.

Highlights of the resort are the 40 pool villas, which comprise a courtyard entrance that leads into a living and dining area, a kitchen, a maid's room and a large private infinity swimming pool. Guests of the pool villas enjoy special extras including butler service, cocktail hours and limousine service to the airport, Hoi An Town and Danang City.

Completing the luxurious offerings are gourmet restaurants, an exotic spa with 8 tranquil villas, three swimming pools, a health club, tennis courts and plans for an 18-hole golf course.  www.designhotels.com/namhai

GOLDMAN 25HOURS HOTEL - Frankfurt, Germany

A repurposed hotel in Frankfurt's bustling Ostend district, the Goldman 25hours applies the spatial principles of the best nightclubs to a hotel. The public rooms' layout prioritises flow in a multi-levelled, multifunctional context connecting lobby, lounge, restaurant and bar.

The 49 guestrooms themselves are stacked on seven floors with different colour schemes. Each room has a "godfather," a local notable whose story is expressed by the space and gives a sense of Frankfurt's cosmopolitan feel. The underlying design concept throughout is based on high-quality basic materials, rectilinear design and a mix of vintage tapestry and modern wall treatments. Overall the result is contemporary style with staying power. Themed rooms - like the Princess, Paris and Casino rooms - add to the sense of fun.

Like its sister property in Hamburg, Goldman 25hours is designed to offer an affordable and unique lifestyle hotel experience to urban nomads. Rates are reasonable and an additional 25% discount is offered to guests 25 years old or younger. Although the existing hotels - and those in planning - share the same principles and philosophy, each 25hours Hotel provides a highly individual environment to reflect and enhance the character of its location.

At Goldman 25hours, individuality asserts itself at every level, from the public to the private, in the new-wave take on increasingly buzz-worthy Frankfurt hospitality. www.designhotels.com/goldman25hours

THE LIBRARY - Koh Samui, Thailand
Inspired by the relaxed posture of a reading traveller, The Library is a conceptual resort and beachfront outpost of casual elegance. With its 26 suites/studios and main buildings scattered discreetly among lush vegetation, careful planning went into preserving this heritage piece of land on Chaweng Beach. The aim was to create a resort for appreciating the location, while impacting minimally on its ecology.

The individual structures reveal a distinctive style of clean lines and strong earthy colour palettes. Attention to detail and incorporating nature was a guiding principle for interior architect Tirawan Songsawat. The results are interior and exterior spaces that harmonise and allow the guest to experience the value of simplicity and its ability to refresh the inner spirit.

Each cabin consists of a suite space on the ground floor and a studio upstairs, complete with ocean view and the shade of huge old trees. The interiors are finished in a bold scheme that emphasises red and grey elements against pure white walls and floor space. The palette is also echoed by the resort's red swimming pool, the grey-toned beachfront restaurant and bar with both in- and outdoor seating areas, and the white library building with its extensive book, music and movie collections. A separate unit is outfitted with modern exercise equipment amidst 270 degree views of the sea.

All in all, each aspect of The Library reveals its philosophy that "true happiness is not complicated at all. www.designhotels.com/library
