Sofitel Opens Two Hotels in Two Different Areas of Nanjing’s Expanding
Downtown and Suburbs, A Gary Player Designed Golf Course Surrounds
the Surbanban Sofitel Zhongshan Golf & Resort
BANGKOK, 29 May, 2006 — Accor’s largest-ever expansion of the Sofitel brand in China racked up another impressive achievement, officially opening two hotels in Nanjing, Sofitel Galaxy Nanjing and Sofitel Zhongshan Golf & Resort – on the same day. This amazing milestone marks the first time anywhere in the world that Accor has launched two Sofitel hotels on the same day in the same city.
The two distinct Sofitel hotels are located in two different areas of Nanjing’s expanding downtown and suburbs: Sofitel Galaxy Nanjing right in the heart of the city centre while  Sofitel Zhongshan Golf & Resort is an easy 20-minute drive away.

Sofitel Zhongshan Golf & Resort
Located in the city’s Zhongshan district, the 140-room Sofitel Zhongshan Golf & Resort Nanjing’s marquee attraction is the 27-hole Gary Player designed golf course and club house that surrounds the resort.
For non-golfers the resort offers a comprehensive range of other leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, tennis court, fitness centre, day spa, beauty salon and Mahjong rooms.
The low-rise colonial style hotel features 114 deluxe rooms measuring a massive 57 sqm, 12 executive rooms with 30 sqm balconies and 14 suites in three categories for top end clientele.  All rooms and suites feature Sofitel’s cocoon like ‘MyBed’, large screen plasma TV and individual balconies with views of Zijin Mountain or the golf course.
The resort’s ballroom can accommodate 300 delegates for sit down banquets or meetings with eight private conference rooms of various sizes. Sofitel Zhongshang Golf Resort’s six food and beverage outlets are a paradise of culinary delights:

Nanjing had quickly emerged as a cosmopolitan city to rival its neighbour Shanghai, attracting over 400,000 international visitors in 2000. Overseas Chinese are particularly attached to Nanjing, especially Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s Mausoleum and the Qinhuali River Scenic Belt. It has an established trade and manufacturing base from foreign multi-national companies including Motorola, Philips, Fiat, Ericsson and an Iveco joint venture.

Three more Sofitels are scheduled to open in China before the end of 2006, giving Accor 20 Sofitel hotel, making it the country’s largest and most recognisable luxury hotel brand
Over the next two years, Sofitel will increase from the current 49 hotels in Asia Pacific to nearly 70 hotels in 12 countries. It will establish the Sofitel brand as the largest 5-star hotel brand in the region. It will also increase the global network of Sofitel hotels to over 200.
