Ghee Alexander Named General Manager
of Melbourne Crowne Plaza in Florida
ATLANTA, Ga., June 7, 2006—Lodgian, Inc. (AMEX: LGN), one of the nation’s largest independent owners and operators of full-service hotels, today announced that Ghee Alexander has been named general manager of the 272-room Melbourne-Oceanfront Crowne Plaza in Florida.  The hotel, which was closed as a result of hurricane damage sustained in 2004, reopened in December 2005 as a Crowne Plaza following a comprehensive 15-month renovation and upgrade.  

Since joining Lodgian in 2002, Alexander has risen quickly through the ranks and built an impressive record of success at a range of property types.  Most recently, he served as general manager of the 260-room Holiday Inn BWI Airport Conference Center near Baltimore.  During his tenure there, the hotel reported increased guest satisfaction scores, adjusted daily rate grew by 6 percent, annual occupancy improved and the property ranked among the top 10 hotels in the Lodgian portfolio in terms of revenue and profit.  Previously, he was general manager of the 193-room Holiday Inn Hotels & Suites in Marietta, Ga., near Atlanta, where he helped the hotel double its profits and achieve the second highest guest satisfaction scores in the company.

Located at 2605 North Highway A1A, on the beach, the “like-new” Crowne Plaza features a full complement of first-class amenities and services for both business and leisure travelers.  Of the 272 completely refurbished guest rooms and suites, 75 percent of the rooms feature ocean views.  The beach is steps away from the property’s new 6,000 square foot Brazilian redwood ocean deck.  A health and fitness center and complimentary business center offer 24-hour service.  With more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel is capable of handling groups of up to 350 people.  

All upgraded guests rooms feature the “Crowne Plaza’s Sleep Advantage” program, which includes premium beds and bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, drape clips, sleep CDs, sleep tips and amenities, such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.  Twenty-eight new one-bedroom family suites were created that include full kitchens.  Guest rooms and public spaces offer complimentary high-speed Internet access.  

In addition to its beach/coastal location, the hotel is centrally located near a number of tourist destinations less than an hour away, including the Kennedy Space Center, Disney World and Universal Studios.
