MILWAUKEE, Wis., June 1, 2006�Marcus Hotels and Resorts, a division
of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced that it has named
Daniel E. Carusone as general manager of the historic 186-room Westin Columbus
(Ohio) hotel. Marcus acquired the AA four-diamond hotel earlier this
month.
Carusone, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, brings more than two decades of experience in the operation of four- and five-diamond hotels, including management stints at such highly regarded properties as The Wigwam Resort near Phoenix, the Arizona Biltmore, and LaPosada Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Ritz Carlton hotels in Jacksonville and America Island, Fla. Most recently, he was district vice president of Fairfield Resorts with responsibility for overseeing the operations of four properties located in Williamsburg and Alexandria, Va. �Pairing a general manager to a hotel, especially a unique historic hotel like the Westin Columbus, is much like pairing a great wine with a gourmet meal,� said Bill Otto, president of Marcus Hotels and Resorts. �Dan is an award-winning hotelier and has worked at some of the finest properties in America. We believe the Westin Columbus is a special property and that both it and Dan will set a new standard of excellence in the community.� Carusone will oversee a substantial, multi-million dollar renovation that includes upgrading all guest rooms and creating a new dining experience in harmony with the property�s historic setting. The AA four-diamond Westin Columbus is located in the heart of downtown Columbus and is connected to the Southern Theatre, a historically restored, 933-seat performing arts theater.
