 Asteco Signs Mövenpick to Manage Four
Exclusive Hotels within the City of Dubai

April 2006  - The acquisition of the new properties means that by 2008 the international Swiss hotel chain will operate on no fewer than nine hotels in the United Arab Emirates. It began with the successful operation of the Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai, followed by a further four hotels currently under construction in Dubai. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is thus one huge step closer to its expansion objectives in the Gulf region, underlining its reputation as the fastest growing hotel chain in the Middle East.

Asteco, the largest property management company in the United Arab Emirates, has become synonymous with quality real estate development. The Company was founded by Sultan Bin Sulayem in 1985 and has helped to define the landscape and physical infrastructure of 21st century United Arab Emirates through its involvement in many major projects.

Two exclusive Mövenpick resorts are currently being built on the Palm Jumeirah, a revolutionary billion dollar project featuring a man-made palm tree shaped island built out into the sea.

The Mövenpick Resort Oceana The Palm Jumeirah, located on the �trunk� of the Palm Jumeirah, is scheduled to open in April 2007. The 5-star resort boasts 249 rooms and suites, 142 apartments, a business centre and a total of three meeting rooms. Mövenpick�s trademark culinary highlights will be on offer not just in the main restaurant but also in the seafood speciality restaurant, the pizzeria, an Arabic Café and a speciality restaurant on the 14th floor, in addition to four bars. The Regatta Club will be the crown jewel of leisure facilities overseeing the marina.   

Opening Mid 2007 the Mövenpick Resort & Spa The Palm Jumeirah, located on the outer palm crescent, is conceived as a luxury 5-star resort with 293 rooms, 18 water villas and three family villas. The resorts culinary experience will include the main restaurant, an Asian restaurant, a steak house and a seafood speciality restaurant as well as a number of lounges and bars. A total of three meeting rooms, one ballroom and a business centre will be available for conferences and banquets. Leisure amenities range from swimming pools and a fitness centre to water sports, tennis and squash. The spa and wellness centre will also include spa-cuisine serving menus tailored specifically to the individual treatments. The spa treatments with their roots from Asia will pamper guests with the ultimate spa experience in twelve treatment rooms.

Mövenpick Resort & Spa The Palm Jumeirah

Another project is being completed in the Deira district: a modern 5-star hotel with 245 rooms, due to open in May 2007.  The Mövenpick Hotel Deira is aimed at business executives, airline personnel, leisure visitors and long-term residents, and will include a café, a Wok-In Restaurant and a pool bar in addition to its main restaurant. Other amenities comprise of a business centre as well as a swimming pool and a fitness centre.  Adjacent to the Hotel is a Meeting, Seminar and Convention Center, which could easily accommodate 1,000 guests.

The Ibn Battuta Hotel Dubai operated by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, with 396 rooms and 166 apartments, is under construction on Sheikh Zayed Road, adjacent to the new Ibn Battuta Mall (a theme-based shopping mall dedicated to the traveller Ibn Battuta, the Marco Polo of the Arab world). The 5-star luxury hotel, due to open in October 2007, features a distinctive Moroccan-style entrance gate some 60 m in height. The hotel�s culinary offering dedicated to Ibn Battuta and his travel destinations, with a Mediterranean, an Indian, a Chinese and a Persian restaurant. There will also be a gourmet shop and two bars for guests to enjoy.  The extensive leisure facilities include swimming pools, a fitness centre and a spa area with the world�s largest ladies hammam. And not to be missed is the 900 sq.m. Entertainment Area.  The hotel also features a total of four meeting rooms, a ballroom and a business centre.
