ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH. MARCH XX, 2006 Energy
Eye, a new Wireless Radio Frequency energy-management system that is rapidly
being installed in a growing number of U.S. hotels, has now entered the
Canadian hospitality market. The company finalized an agreement with Toronto-based
Select Hospitality Systems whereby Select will serve as the distributor
in Canada for Energy Eye EMS products.
Were excited to be expanding into the Canadian market with our new strategic partner in Canada, Select Hospitality Systems, said Matthew Mrowczynski, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Energy Eye. Weve been growing by leaps and bounds in the U.S. hospitality industry, and now hoteliers and hotel companies in Canada will be able to benefit from the advantages of having the Energy Eye Wireless Radio Frequency EMS installed in their properties. Hotels in Canada are realizing that Energy Eye is an affordable, easily installed stand-alone system that enhances guest comfortand guest satisfactionwhile drastically reducing room electricity expenses related to the increasing costs of energy. Select Hospitality Systems is led by President Larry S. Cechet, a 25-year industry veteran who has established firm relationships within the Canadian hotel market. Were excited to be joining with Energy Eye to market, sell, install and service its new EMS system in Canada, Cechet said. With electricity rates in Canada ready to substantially increase in the near future, weve been looking for an energy-management system we can integrate with our current product line of electronic locks and safes. The Energy Eye system was the perfect fit. Matt Mrowczynski and I have known each other for a long time, and we decided that initiating a relationship between Select Hospitality Systems and Energy Eye would be a win-win situation for all concernedespecially hotel owners and operators in Canada. Both Cechet and Mrowczynski said the Energy Eye system addresses a portion of the market that needs an affordable, cost efficient energy-management system. With its RF intelligent system, easy installation and cost effectiveness, the Energy Eye system will allow properties to realize 25 to 40 percent savings on their room electrical costs, Mrowczynski said, and with a typical payback of less than two years, hotel properties stand to dramatically increase their bottom line. Part of the sale process is that Energy Eye will develop an analysis of a propertys savings based on the its last 12 months of electrical bills, Cechet said. To date, there has not been a system available that cost-effectively addresses the issue of saving on energy costs with an affordable, easily installed EMS that at the same time is user-friendly for guests and enhances guest satisfaction. Most systems on the market are expensive and do not generate a fast enough payback. Energy-Eye addresses all of these issues and more. Cechet said there are several Energy Eye features that convinced him to become its distributor in Canada. The Energy Eye system is a stand-alone RF-based system, so wiring to each room is eliminated, which in turn means that installation is quick and simpleand requires no room downtime during installation, he said. Also, with its re-set temperature control and occupant-sensing features, the propertys management is not burdened with additional software systems or integration systems, all of which require a certain degree of employee training and maintenance. The Energy-Eye system operates independently on a room-per-room basis and is transparent to the guest and property. Cechet said Select Hospitality Systems is currently working with a number of Canadian hotel owners and franchise brands to make the Energy Eye system available to their Canadian franchisees. Select Hospitality Systems has worked with such well-known brands as Choice Hotels, Days Inns, Hyatt Hotels, Four Seasons aand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Cechet said he expects the first Canadian Energy Eye installations to begin in March. For more information about the Energy Eye EMS
