Closed Since 2004, Orlando Hotel Reopens with New Staff, Upscale Image |
ORLANDO, Fla. Jan. 23, 2006 Royal Plaza in
the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort has announced the hiring of five key staff
members who will be instrumental in the success of the newly reopened and
renovated hotel. The full-service, independently operated property
reopened last week after closing in August 2004 due to damages caused by
Hurricane Charley. Thanks to a multi-million-dollar makeover, the
Royal Plaza now features a more contemporary, upscale atmosphere, as well
as enhanced services and amenities.
New members of the Royal Plaza management team include: Odyssey Leach has joined the Royal Plaza as general manager.
In his new position, Leach will be responsible for overseeing the hotel�s
day-to-day operations. With over 20 years of hospitality experience,
he most recently served as general manager at the 530-room Holiday Inn
Nikki Bird Resort in Kissimmee, Fla. Previously, Leach held finance
and operations� posts with Marriott and Omni. He holds a bachelor�s
degree in economics from the Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte,
NC and an MBA in finance from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
. Aydin Atalay has been hired as banquet manager. Atalay, who has worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years, most recently served as banquet manager at Disney�s Coronado Springs. Juan Joubert joined the hotel as executive chef. He has 20 years of experience and most recently served as a sous chef for Levy Restaurants. Jose Otero has joined Royal Plaza as sous chef. Formerly the executive chef at the Doubletree Hotel in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Otera has 12 years of experience. The Royal Plaza in the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort is a unique full-service, independently owned hotel located on Disney property and within walking distance to DOWNTOWN DISNEY®. Spread out over 17 floors, all 394 of the hotel�s renovated, oversized guest rooms have been outfitted with plush, new carpeting and drapes; custom, over-stuffed pillow-top �Royal Beds� and premium linens; curved shower rods; granite countertops and Bath & Body Works amenities; plus pull-out sleeper sofas and an in-room media package (featuring first-run movies, video games, high-speed Internet and more).
